I worked off and on through the holiday on a list of classroom accomodations I'd like to have in place for L'il Sprout. When the school staff said he doesn't need an IEP anymore I could live with it. But I could not see leaving him with no safety net at all. I can already tell where some trouble spots are brewing and I know what next year will be like.
So I talked to our hired psych today and went over the test results and the list of accomodations. You know what? I did all right! Maybe I ought to think about becoming an advocate.
Of course after 5 years of school battles most of us are qualified to advocate!
So I'll contact the school tomorrow morning and let them know we've got a few more things to discuss. The psych said we may get some back talk because he had all A's and B's in the first term.
But the fact is with all that L'il Sprout has overcome to get A's and B's if he didn't have any LD's he could probably run the school. And run the country as a side job.
This will be a new kind of battle for me. Maybe it won't be a battle. We'll see. Wish me luck.

Good luck Sierra! I've been working on some 504 ideas myself. I meet with Cami's teacher tomorrow. It's hard coming up with some things. I don't want to make it TOO easy on her, but I also don't won't to keep spending my nights doing homework, so to speak. I served my time, I don't want to have to go thru it again, hehe!! Anyway, I wish you luck. I know your little sprout and my Cami are around the same age/grade. It is important to get some help before high school hits, I've been told. Let us know how it goes! ---------------------------------------------------- Christy
