I'M BORED  School has only been out a few weeks and 8 year old Jacob is complaining!!! He is going to the center(kids camp) every day....comes home...plays with neighborhood kids and he is BORED. I think he truly misses being in school with his classmates.  I told him if he is bored he must be a boring person and I am not going to fill in the gaps!!!!! |

I got that from Mikey yesterday, so I told him to go clean his room ;D Boredom buster for sure ;D ;D Besides, we got a new puppy, so they haven't been too bad  |

He is also starting with the mouth....I don't deal well with that...so when he gets home this afternoon he is writing a letter to me about backtalking....when he is done with that he is going straight home to his dad  Paul asked me if he was that bad and I said yeah you were...but with his brother I have the option of giving him the BOOT!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D |

my mom used to pull that with my brother and i when we were bored! if you're so bored, clean your room! didn't take us long to find something else to do!
it has gotten easier as they've gotten older. they work, can drive and their friends can come to our house.
so there is light at the end of the tunnel!

;D OMG !! This doesn't seem to end !! .... Sam finished college YESTERDAY .... and is booked to start summer work with the army where he works a lot of the time anyway next Thursday (when he will work solidly until we go on holiday and will then work solidly again AFTER we return from holiday through August until he goes back to college in September) ... BUT "right now" he has a WHOLE FREE WEEK ahead of him !! ... for the first time in absolutely AGES .... His comment whilst we were driving home from college yesterday was "Well I now have a WEEK off .. & I will now get bored in this next week..." I then said "You will be bored?" and he said "Oh but Mum thats all GOOOOOD ... I have a week OFF everything - no work and no college!! " So maybe it DOES change .... Maybe they learn to 'appreciate' a full week OFF anything and learn to see "boredom" as a "luxury" rather than a negative!!?? ;D |

In the past month I have wised up and actually stuck to my guns with a chore calendar. So if they say they are bored, I look at the calendar and tell themn to do a job So Mikey now can wash dishes--not the pots yet though, and Tara actually takes out the trash. They both know how to sort laundry.....next step....washing clothes |

Speaking of chores...Jacob is going to be doing more....He went to our local Lugnuts Game...borrowed Paul's baseball cap that had been autographed by ball players...he has had this hat since he was 8...guess what? Jacob lost it and I told him he was going to repay Paul for the hat!!!!! Paul doesn't know about it yet!!  |

 Oh YIKES!! ... Jacob lost the "long treasured" hat and Paul doesn't yet know? Sam doesn't HAVE a younger brother BUT I sure know how he would feel about THAT one!! I hope Paul is in a good mood when this is discovered!!

Oh NO now I´am feeling sorry for Jacob....wait...feeling went away, he lost it, blame on him  My kid´s havent got the time to get bored yet, or I´ve been at work all the time and daddy has been spending time with them, so.... Wait until next thursday and ask me again then, I´ve had almost a week with them then.... ;D |

oh linda, i feel so bad for paul. we all lose things but to lose something so special is really difficult. won't help that they are sibling and jacob has probably been told 100 times to leave my stuff alone or stay out of my room. i'll feel sorry for jacob for you!! i've had an old POW bracelet from the vietnam war. when this war started, brittany wanted to wear it. stupid me let her! of course she lost it. have to say i was pretty mean to her about it to  you won't believe it but she found it in the pocket of a winter coat. i'm so glad too. needless to say, she won't be wearing it again! karen |

Paul came home from work and I told Jacob to tell him what happened and he said NOOOOOOO!!!! I said if you don't tell him I am bringing Paul over to your house...again NOOOOOO!!! Well Paul went over and said whats up? Jacob was hiding under his bed and he said I lost your hat and I am soooo sorry....This is the kid that will tell anyone that big brother is "EVIL" to my surprise Paul told J ....It is all right but you are never going to borrow another one of my hats. Go figure ;D ;D |

Funny--as soon as I saw this thread, I knew what it was about! I remember being soooo bored when I was a kid.
Wow, Paul is a lot nicer than I would have been! These were personal autographs he received from ball players? I suppose he's not as sentimental as I am, but still . . . I'm glad he was so good about it.
