He gets a PARKING TICKET !! The parking at and around the college is notoriously HORRENDOUS ... I have TOLD him where to park - he KNOWS where to park and YES IT DOES MEAN a WALK of about 4 minutes !! ... but NOOOOO instead he takes a 'chance' and parks on a DOUBLE YELLOW LINE (NO parking at any time) closer to the college ... and of course got a ticket!! He rang me at lunchtime to tell me... "Er Mum I have a parking ticket" ... Well its £30 (about $50) if paid within 14 days and it DOUBLES to £60 (about $100) if not paid in that time and then DOUBLES AGAIN if not paid within 28 days etc.etc.... So I have paid it on my credit card ... BUT he is paying me back on Friday when his money goes into his account ... and I am going to make sure he pays EVERY SINGLE PENNY of it !! ... He SAYS it has taught him a lesson ... I sure HOPE it has!!

Thankyou Marja !! I think he has been spoilt in "parking" previously ... when he had his moped he was able to park RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR OF HIS BUILDING !! ... since the moped was sold he has had ME drop him off on the road very close to his building whilst I go and find a space ... and NOW that he is insisting on taking his car himself and he just has to learn !! A colleague at work recently found that her daughter had run up £800 (about $1400) in parking tickets !! I have TOLD Sam that (true!) story... and also told him I am SO NOT prepared to "go there" in any shape or form... !!

Anne...he probably won't do it again considering it is coming out of his pocket He just thought he would give it a chance and not get caught....that's the way kids think sometimes!!

Yes I agree Linda ... Sometimes they just think they will get away with it!! Actually - I just realised myself !! .. I am not SORRY he was caught ... it would have been worse if he was parked there for several hours and had NOT got a parking ticket!! ... I am just sorry he made the decision to park somewhere so STUPID!!

???Have you asked him if he learned his lesson, or did you already say and I'm, just not paying attention I have only gotten 1 ticket in my life, and that was for having an expired reinspect sticker on my windshield. The people at the DMV said it was good for a month, while the officer said 14 days and told me the DMV was wrong Haven't done it since, lesson learned

In my younger days (when I was 21), I had to run back into our appartment for something. It would only take a minute. So I parked in the neighboring appartment's parking lot. Huge sign posted right in front of where I parked, "Private parking, violators will be ticketed and/or towed". I had a major episode of ADD and two hours later remembered where I parked. Luckly the car was there, but it had this nice new window decoration on it to the tune of $180. I had some major explaining to do on that one. Now walking is not so bad. Miles
