If you had to pick the 3 main traits or characteristics that are most associated with your ADHD child, what would they be?

GREAT question!
The "bad" traits from her ADHD:
unable to stay focused on anything unorganized like you wouldn't believe hyperness in the sense of non-stop talking
To add a flip side though, good traits in her are:
strong sense of considerateness when it comes to birthday's, holiday's, etc. She never forgets anyone and goes out of her way to make it special! devout loyalty to her friends strong desire to help others when needed (and I strongly believe these "good" traits are ADHD related as well in the sense of wanting/needing to feel loved, wanted, and needed)

I have to name the flip side too ... because OH isn't it a BIGGIE !!
1) Loyalty towards those he cares about (This seems to be BIG amongst our add/adhd'ers!)
2) A BIGGGG conscience ... THANK GOD for that BIGGG conscience on occasions!!
3) Logic and seeing things so darned STRAIGHT-FORWARDLY !! ... Whilst his mother is going around in lots of tight circles he just SEES IT AS IT IS !! ;D

oh boy, very good questions. Well, I would like to put mine as a list of good in one sense bad in another if that's ok. 1. >:(No fear as the bad and scares the crap outta me/not afraid to try new things and makes me proud when he is the leader adn not the follower 2. Impulsive and makes me think that he's making the wrong choices/ kneejerk reaction that most of us call our gut feeling that we usually don't listen to 3. >:(hyperfocusing which means it takes forever to check out an ant hill/ hyper focusing because he takes forever checking out an ant hill in the hopes of findout what they eat and how they get along as a society of ants...which could bring him to a field of biology See, I am so wishy washy I can't see things as all bad when I think about it. Now when it happens look out ;D

Thank you all for your wonderful answers!
My son talks non stop, inturrupts, no impulse control, very easily frustrated and discouraged, hypersensitive, and blames everyone for anything that happends to him.
The main thing that I see is he goes into a 'zone', when there is a lot going on around him. I can't talk to him, get his attention, I mean he would walk into oncoming traffic in one of these states.
They aren't saying for sure it is adhd, like I had mentioned, the dr doesn't want to persue anything for another 6 months to a year.

2) A BIGGGG conscience ... THANK GOD for that BIGGG conscience on occasions!! ANNE! That is Cami too! That child can't lie to me to save her life. If she does something wrong her guilt eats away at her until she owns up to it It is indeed a wonderful trait! crisv, your description of your son fits my daughter almost exactly. she isn't so bad with impulse control, but the others...oh yeah! esp. when she was younger!
