There is HOPE

Yesterday was the first day of school. So I made sure to e-mail all of the teachers and staff that deal with Mikey.

The LIST, as I so affectionately call it......of all of the foods that Mikey needs to avoid. Plus I had to add stamps and finger paint and that kind of stuff.

Well, yesterday Mikey's teacher came into SACC :oheading right for me ???so I looked at her and told her I wasn't here, she could leave a message ;D

Anyhow, she laughed and said it wasn't about Mikey, BUT she wanted me to know that either an aunt or someone in her family had a son that was SUPER HYPER when he was little.

They also followed Feingold, and she said that he is now an airline pilot

Not that she is a bad teacher, she is great. Old school, which I like because that is what Mikey needs. But I don't know if she realized how serious Mike and I are when it comes to following the program.

At the end of last school year, we splurged and let him off the diet program ........... ::)Yeah, I was asking for it ::)for about 2 weeks. Oh man, there was SOOOOOOO much of a difference in him regressing. He was awful.


Anyhow, I just wanted to vent in a good way :DShe even told me that she would be on the look out for prepackaged things that he could have. So I told her to let me knw where they were and I'd pick them up.

She tells me if she sees something she'll get it.......so I can see me buying her school supplies for the class because she won't tell me what it would cost

Sounds like you landed a good techer this year! It is wonderful to stumble across those that realize ADD and ADHD are REAL and that what we are doing for our children is needed. It is even better when they agree to help us to do. Way to go teach!!! and way to go mom and dad for keeping Mikey on track no matter the cost. Here's to a great year for Mikey!!

Kaiti ... this is great ... a teacher who understands and is prepared to abide by "YOUR" rules and not just make up her own !!

Oh I hope (and it sure is looking hopeful!) that this will be a very good year for Mikey!!

Thank you ladies very much, he started his first project last night without me telling, asking, even knowing that he was. I wondered why he was being so quiet....holy crap he was actually doing homework........where's the snow ;D ;D ;D

Fingers crossed and I think they will stay that way for a while.

Oh sorry to post something sad in a post that is so positive !! .. but I just thought of it !! ..

As you know Sam was always VERY POOR at doing homework .. he would put it off until the VERY LAST MINUTE and then it would be done at lightening speed because he always had something "better" that he was itching to do ...

Anyway I remember when he was around age 11 and he had some homework to do about the Solar System ... and he REALLY, REALLY on that occasion made a HUGE EFFORT and unusually spent HOURS on it.. and I remember him saying "If I really work hard on this my teacher might be pleased and I might get a merit!" ... and he did (work really, really hard) ..

The following week I asked him about his solar system homework and he said "The teacher hasn't said anything about it at all ...so I guess it was just average!" ... ... and it was things like THAT that made me want to cry!! .. It was things like THAT that made him not want to bother too much making an effort with his homework!!

If you have a good teacher (and it sounds like you DO!) then this is worth SUCH A LOT!!

Sound´s like you have a good theacher to work with, whata relief. And great thing with the homework, I know how it feel´s to try to push your child to do it vs. wathcing him doing it all by himself

I had to run Mikey's folder to him this morning. When I walked into the class room, I saw he was sitting next to 2 other boys :oOne Mike grew up his dad playing football and such, the other I grew up with his family.

OH BOY, I looked at the teacher and she saysOH WE"LL BE MOVING SOME DESKS AROUND DON"T WORRY ;D ;D ;D

I'm surprised she hadn't done it already ;D ;D ;DMikey and C can be another best friends/worst enemies duo ;D ;D
