Talk about being blessed...
I was feeling pretty darned sorry for myself...husband in Iraq I haven't seen for 10 months, killing myself to keep the house and pool and yard and cars from self-destructing, 4 kids wearing me to a frazzle, no time to pratice the piano for church so I'm worrying I'll sound like a complete amateur, best friend being a meanie head, generally feeling overwhelmed and alone and depressed...
So what happens? A friend calls and says he and another friend want to take me out to dinner because they think I need a break from everything. Nice dinner, too, a jazz band and strawberry dacquiris and rousing political discussions with fellow liberals (aren't most musicians liberal?)...
It put things back in perspective. I was really being a big self-pitying cry-baby jerk. Thank God for good friends who help me through those bad moments...by getting me loaded, making me eat too much, and killing my eardrums with lengthy trumpet solos. I'm very fortunate. Life isn't perfect, but it's pretty darn good.

Catatonic, i was thinking about you and you dh at the other night, wondering how he is doing in Iraq? Good to know you have friend´s taking care of you when life goes rough. And you´re right, life is not perfect, but who would want it to be, would be so boring.

ISN'T THAT THE TRUTH I try to give thanks everyday for the good things in my life~~~Part of my News Years Resolution. I always would say if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all but I started to realize that everytime I said it it seemed that is how my life went so now I look on the bright side of everything. I am a very happy upbeat person but also very hard on myself and I am trying very very hard to cut myself some slack.

I think we are meeting at my house some time next week, if Kaiti doesn't chicken out... otherwise I am going to drive down to Jersey again to see her... We can make more plans soon! I agree though... canning in this weather isn't very enticing!

Hey gals! I was away on vacation last week - did you get together? If not, next week is okay for me - after Monday (Wed is first day of school) and through the Labor Day weekend. I start a new job on 9/6 and am taking one week off to detox and relax (yea, right!)
I have to drive my mom to FL Sat and sun, then fly back Mon. After that, I can settle down a bit until school/homework begin!
Lol. Kris
