Yep, I borrowed the broom. I had to get a little nasty since it's taken me TWO weeks to even get an appointment at the Texas Children's Hospital. I was told a week ago that it would be Nov. or Dec. before I could get ds in. WELL, you know what they say about the squeaky wheel~~~! With me having to be a witch and talking to supervisor and/or coordinator I got ds an appointment for JULY 27!! I'm sure it'll be the initial visit to decide where we go from there, but hey, at least I got us in. Then they faxed a 16 page questionnaire for me to fill out. Maybe we'll be on our way to more answers!

Glad to hear things are going better. I am about to be a thorn in our new psychiatrist's side (or other parts of her anatomy). Remember on Sunday night I posted that Nathan had an alergic reaction to the medicine we started? Well, Monday I called got the receptionist, left a message, faxed her a letter explaining what happened and waited. By the end of Monday, I called again, she said that the message was given to Dr. and did not know why no call was returned. She assured me that I would get a call Tuesday. So all day Tuesday I waited, no call. Wednesday I waited until 3:00 and called. Got the receptionist, who transferred me to a nurse, and reexpained everything that had happened. The nurse told me that I would get a call back tomorrow. So today I will be faxing in my report (again) along with the service history, asking if this is typical, if it is, the last time she saw us will be the last Miles

isn't it sad that we have to get a broom out to get the help our kids need? i know it happens in other dr. offices as well. you have to wonder if it's how the dr wants his office run or that he trusts the person who is running it and has no idea how they are doing business. we've had this problem with the orthodontist. luckily, we're about done and the kids can drive themselves now! karen

I think that's absolutely true. OFTEN I don't think the doctor, dentist, vet, etc. have any idea the way their patients are being treated over the phone. Our child psychiatrist first sent a faxed referral to that hospital on June 28. DS just got on the hospital's "LIST" yesterday. Sounds to me like someone is dropping the ball. Before I was called back yesterday, I had searched until I found the Director of the Learning Support Center's name, phone # and address. He was going to get a call from me and a follow-up letter. It may not have gotten me anywhere, but he was going to get it just the same. This is NOT how a business should be run. Maybe that's why getting out my/your/our broom worked.....perhaps they could tell by my tone that I'd reached the end of my rope and they'd better watch out! BUT, I hate having to be a *itch!

Ya know, Linda, you're right. There are days that I get sooooo tired of the fight, over and over and over again. THEN I get out a tape of my little boy when he was two and all of a sudden, I remember how very much I love him and all this fighting for him is worth it all. That doesn't mean that I won't get down again or that I won't cry for a week...but then it's time to get back to advocating for him. The ODD is the worst part and it's hard for me remember that even HE wouldn't treat me that way if he could help it. NO one wants to have their mom angry at them all the time. If I could only make him see that it's also hard for me to go on, when I feel like I'm being beat up emotionally all the time. He hits me with nasty words at 5:00 AM and gets his last nasty word at 10:00 PM. That sure makes for a loooooong day. Pray for us that this team of doctors will have some answers and get us on the right meds and the right behavior mods!

I'm proud of you girl! Don't worry about having to be a witch, look at it like this instead.... at lest now they know they can't jerk you around!! You just gotta remind those doctors that if they want to make the mansion's mortgage and the BMW's payment, they need to treat their patient's right. LOL
I am hoping real hard that everything works out with this!
