Just wishing Cami lots of luck today for her tryouts. Let us know how she did. When do they find out who made the squad?

Vickilyn, Thanks! Actually we found out yesterday that the tryouts are Friday, so hold that wish one more day!! I'm glad though because the extra day of practice couldn't hurt. According to Cami, they are having tryouts tomorrow and then we are supposed to drive to the school sometime before 12:00 Saturday to find out. They will be posting a list. Last night she had a little argument with a friend of hers who is also trying out. The friend apparently made an offhanded remark and she was a little upset. She thinks the friend is better than her and is worried the friend will make it and she won't. This friend is already in softball and volleyball. Cami cried to me that this friend "already has two things she's in and good at, it's not fair." Oh, how I hope she gets this. Her self-confidence could use the boost, and I'm afraid waht could happen if she doesn't, esp if the friend does! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! I'll be glad when this week is over!

Well, today is the day. I've got prayers going up, and fingers, toes, legs, eyes, you name it crossed! ;D I'm leaving work at 1:40 EST today (it is just afer 1:00 now my time) for an appointment to see about LASIK surgery (another post in itself! ;D) but should get out early enough to go to school and watch the tryouts. Like I have said, OH! DO I HOPE SHE MAKES IT!.... I'm going to have a sad girl on my hands if she doesn't. Pray, pray, pray!

Well y'all yesterday wound up being a big bust! I'm so upset about it I don't know whether to cry or beat my head on my brick fireplace! I left work at 1:40 to go to an eye appointment. On my way there my cell phone rings and I see it's Cami's school calling. My heart immediately sinks! Turns out she had gotten into a little altercation with a boy during lunch. Just like her last fight it was with someone she has had constant trouble with all year. What's so bad though is that it is a boy! This boy has picked on Cami all year. The day before yesterday he told her several times to "shut the f--- up" several times while she was talking to friends. Her boyfriend intervened and shut him up. Anyway, apparently yesterday while in lunch my lovely dd started in on him as a "backlash" from the previous day. They then exchanged word, and he pushed her. She pushed back. Then it was over. But that was enough to get her put in in-school-suspension and disqualified from the try-outs. All the work she has done to get ready for this shot out the door with a simple push! She has done rec cheering since five yrs old. She has taken tumbling for almost a year to learn the tumbling part. She has spent the last two weeks writing an essay on why she wanted to be a cheerleader, going to practices, etc. and it all turned out to be for nothing! When the ap called me I wanted to scream. Throw my hands in the air and claim I give up! I dn't know what else to do. She knew that yesterday of all days was one she needed to be on her best behavior, yet she couldn't control herself and her impulses got the best of her. What is it with kids at this age? Why do they feel the need to just pick, pick, pick constantly? It gets me so aggravated with the immaturity these kids have! And a boy? A boy picking on a girl and pushing her? What is up with that? In my day boys were taught to respect girls and would NEVER lay a hand on them. At any rate, it's over. Cami is VERY upset herself and knows she has noone to blame but herself. She asked me when I picked her up if she was going to be grounded, and I told her I felt she had received punishment enough. She now has a whole year to wait out and try again. Every time she goes to a game or they have a pep rally next year and she sees the cheerleaders, she will be punished again. Thanks for all the support though. You guys are the greatest! ...... Here's to next year! Three more weeks of school.... three more weeks of school..... three more weeks of school!

Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!! I know Cami is upset, I know I would be after working so hard and then not even being able to try out. Tell her to keep practicing this year and she will be even better next year. Here we have quite a few girls who dont make it the first year, but then make it the next. Its just so hard to not even be able to try. ((((((( hugs))))))) to both of you.

OHHHHHHh I'm so sorry. She did work hard for it and your right, all they do is pick pick pick. Well, if there's a silver lining-----and I'm stretching it, but at least you know she'll stand up for herself and not take anything from anyone------I know, it is stretching, but She won't be walked on as much as other girls who think they have to listen to guys crap all the time Sorry Christy..... ((((((hugs))))))) Kaiti

Thanks you two! Kaiti, you are right on the defending herself thing. I know she won't take anyone's crap, but the flipside is, she doesn't know which battles to pick and when to stop once started. Gotta work on that! What gets me with her is her refusal to "tattle" when something is going on. If she had told someone the day before about this boy cussing at her, it would have been (hopefully anyway) taken care of and Friday wouldn't have happened. But she doesn't want to be known as a "tattle-tale". vickilyn, while we were both trying to put a positive spin on this, Cami did mention that at least she learned some things this year and knows what to expect next. In the meantime she'll stick with her tumbling and perfecting her jumps and springs. Thanks again y'all for all the support!

Don't you love the not tattle thing My kids will cry wolf more times than not, BUT when it came to something that should be said. Not A Peep. Well, like you said, she now has tiome to learn and perfect her tumbling and such, who knows, maybe she'll make something up new. Kaiti
