Hey all!
Ya'll keep my girl in your thoughts and prayers this week. She is trying out for cheerleading. They have practices today, tomorrow and Wednesday after school and tryouts are Thursday. She really wants this and has aimed for it a long time. She did rec-league cheering from ages 5 to 11, then switched to tumbling to help her learn the flips needed. But, her school is the only middle school in our community ans is rather large. The sponsor said that for a squad of 15, she usually has 60-70 girls try out. So, y'all just pray she'll do well on concentration and tryouts, but if she doesn't make it, she won't be too terribly devastated!
Have a good week everyone!

Wish her good luck for me too. One word of warning, last year at tryouts a girl had a sour starburst before she went infront of the school, and had a funny look on her face during her cheer. She looked like she had a bad case of gas or something. Not a good look for a cheerleader.

Well, her first day didn't go as well as she had hoped. When I picked her up she was upset. She was whining that the other girls already "got it" and she was having a hard time keeping up. She said she didn't want to go back today. I explained that just because she didn't quite "get it" today, didn't mean it wouldn't click tomorrow, but the choice was hers, not mine. As of this morning, she was unsure if she would go today. She said she would think on it during the day. I hope she does because I feel she will regret it later on if she doesn't. Ugh! This age and the competitions that go with it (at least for girls) is the worst!!

Well, she did go the second day and did MUCH better... ....when I picked her up this time she was so excited. She said she had pretty much gotten the cheer and chant down and she has "nailed" the dance. The only thing she feels she needs work on is her jumps and she practiced them last night at tumbling. Y'all, she really wants this so keep her in your thoughts and as superficial as it may sound to some, your prayers.

Christy...I don't think it is superficial to want something for your child...besides it makes for good harmony at home!

No it doesn't sound superficial....I was a cheerleader for 5 yrs with youth league...I WISH I could still do it.
I get pleanty of practice yelling at the kids, so I know I still have that diaphram hollar ;D
