This past saturday we had the opening ceremonies for little league baseball and for softball. After the ceremonies and while some games were going on a guy tried to kidnap a little 3 year old girl. He was putting her in his car when she screamed. Her grandmother called for help and the uncle got to the guy and beat him up before the police got there. I was only across the field from this. There were people everywhere and he could have gotten away with her. The kids are all upset, mine are older and are just very angry. We are in a very small town here, but I guess we are still not very safe. I dont know yet the whole story, I guess I will hear about it soon. I hope the child is going to be ok. I am sure she could use your prayers.

I don't know if I'd be more scared or angry but I'd for sure be both.
Guess we'll do some stranger danger review tonite.
ARGH!
I'll be thinking about the girl and her family and your whole community. Something like this affects everyone. I'm so glad she was able to let out a scream before it was too late.

That must have scred you to death to be there when it was asctually happening! It's scary, period. Thank God that little girl had the wits about her to scream and the uncle was able to get to the man. HE was definitely looking out for that little one that day. She, along with all our little ones, will be in my prayers.

Oh, how terrifying, thank God she is ok. Yes, I will keep her in my prayers. I shudder to think how it could have gone the other way. Pedophiles are everywhere. I once did a search for locations of convicted child sexual predators on a law enforcment site. OMG, they were everywhere. It is absolutely frightening.

I hate to hear things like this. At least the little girl is o.k. I don't remember things like this happening when I was young. I'm sure it did but you rarely heard about it. Why is that? Do we just have more crazies around or was it always like this and you just didn't hear about it? I pray for the safety of all our children.

Just because I was curious I looked up the registered sex offenders in my town and found 7 of them. Two were because the guy was 18 and his girl friend was 16 or 15. I dont worry about those. The others were sexual misconduct with a child. The childrens ages were between 6 and 12. Two diffrent guys had 2 counts each with diffrent kids. I dont know yet if this guy from the weekend was a registered offender or not. I hope to find out more when the paper comes out.

Well so far we have found out that this guy was a registered sex offender from the next town over. I also understand that he had been hanging around the softball field (where I was with my DD11) before he went over to the little league field across the parking area. I have not heard anything about how the little girl and her family are doing.
