Silly me, I thougght that this was an issue that wouldn't affect us, or at least not yet. Well, today I was informed that I am JUST a little mommy! I asked Honey what that was supposed to mean and he told me that it means I am not like him and daddy...boys. Apparently the little boys as school had a talk and decided that daddy's are better and mommies are just there. So all day I have been telling him that he is JUST a little boy. The fun of his saying is starting to wear off when he gets it back.

Hey, if chauvanism is alive and kicking--milk it ladies. 'Cuz if you know a chauvanist he will open car doors for you, take out the garbage, mow the lawn (without 50 reiminders), lift all of those boxes that weigh more than 10 lbs., pamper you, and just make your life more comfortable--yeah right!
Remind your son, that statements like that come with a big price--like paying for the whole date!! ;D LOL!

Well I am not sure what I am called weather it be sexist or chavanist either way, THIS woman wants to stay home, cook, clean and take care of kids... Rather than work!

I agree with catseye I know I can do almost anything my DH can do (with the exception of lifting heavy stuf) but I rather stay home and be a good old fashion MOM, along with carpool PTA and all that stuff I LOVE IT
I work part time but DH has the stress of the bills it works for us I have the best of both worlds..... ;D

I think you hit the nail on the head Hoodunit.
Despite there being awareness at the socieital level that jobs and skills are not distributed by gender there are still some jobs and activities where you see a lot fewer of one gender than another. Our kids generalize from the specific. Their specific experience. It's not just in gender and skills. They have to create a new generalization any time their specific experience is enlarged or contradicted. They also generalize from the concrete to the abstract not the other way around. Their world view doesn't change because they hear about something. It changes when they see it. Like the woman truck drivers.
The important thing is that they do make adjustment and don't keep insisting it's "wrong" for women to drive trucks or men to be nurses. That's where us parents come in. We need to help them if they seem to get stuck on the idea that their generalization has to be right and the people who challenge their assumptions by doing something different have to be wrong.
Heck. The world still surprises me all the time. Why should it be different for my sprouts or for other kids?

Oh I know it is hard work! Let me reword that! I would prefer to wake up and be at work! LOL I have had 3 car accidents, all of which have been on my way to work, one of which left me with a limp ... uh oh did I just walk into another stereotype though? LMAO BTW NONE of them were my fault!! LOL
