I am so disappointed! It took me so long to get the basement dry and smelling good after last months flood. Now it is running in so fast it filled up one whole inch in the last 10 minutes!! I could just cry. I called DH home from work, this is nuts. We got 5 inches of snow last night and now it is 45 degrees so it is melting really fast. It is actually running in the windows! Guess what I'll spend the weekend doing....again! Becky

Becky, I assume there is a sump pump in the house. When my house in Massachusetts decided to suddenly start flooding (9 inches overnight) I took the pump from the swimming pool and ran it without a filter. The hose was bigger than what we had on the submersible pump, so it pumped out a lot faster.
If it gets to the point that the furnace or electric is in jeopardy, call the Fire Department for an emergency pump out. It truly is a 9-1-1 emergency at the point.
If not, give the kids a fishing pole and let them entertain themselves from the steps!
Sorry you have to deal with the mess. I can sympathize!

Honeysmom I´am so sorry for you, that sound´s yicky(sp?). Hey, instead of building a boat, wich is quite a big job ;D, you could just buy a swimming-matress(?), those rubber one´s wich blow´s ;D Just a suggestion Mayby you will first invest to a desent pumb, but mayby after that I hope spring is gettin there really soon, so you´ll get it all dryed up. In here I still have about 50 cm of snow, so...... Marja

Hey Marja, I have an air matress for camping, I should've got it out! I think it has stopped for now. DH came home from work and ended up digging little creeks in the lawn to get it away from the house. At least it stopped comming in the window. I just happened that I was going to wash the kids bedding that day, so I took it and threw it on the floor to sop up as much as I could so it didn't get by the furnace. I can't beleive how much it weighed when I lugged it to the washing maching last night! I hope it will be good for a while. I do have carpet down there, so I am thinking about buying stock in carpet fresh. I don't really have anything to report to the insurance co, just a mess. Oh well, cleaning this up will keep me out of trouble.
