I grew up across the street from a horse ranch and learned to love them. I love petting them, brushing them, talking to them.... To me there's nothing that even comes close to the pleasure of riding a horse. It's the best feeling in the world.

I love my Jack Russell Terrier! He's cute, he's smart, he can say "mama", and he's definitely a mama's dog! I think he's funny when he turbos through the house, I like it when he "asks" for something, it's a challenge to not say words like "bacon" or "cookie" unless I'm willing to come across with dog jerky or Milk-Bones.

Definitely a dog. I grew up with them and am suffering greatly without my own. In time . . .
For now - Santa got DS a poison dart frog for Christmas. Good bye fish tank, hello terrarium. (No - for all of you wondering - thankfully they are not poisonous in captivity).
(As far as favorite nondomestic animal I would have to go with Wolf).

CatĀ“s!!!! They are so independent, so filled with selfesteem, so beatifull. We have had a Rottweiler, much better pet in community than a cat that does run around the town, expesially in march.... My ds still miss our rottie, sad thing she had to go, she had epilepticĀ“s....... Horses, yes, wonderfull animals; riding is fun but owning one.... way too much work for a mother of 3 ;D Marja

I aint votiing because it's a split decision. The whole family likes dogs and cats. Good thing our dog likes cats and our cats put up with dogs.

I have never, ever, ever been without a cat. I had one with me in college, and even took my cats when we moved 2.000 miles to texas. I like dogs and horses as well, have had quite a few of them as well, but nothing beats having a cat sitting on your lap purring while you watch a good movie on tv after a long day of work and dealing with kids.

I have to say a cat is my favorite domestic animal. We have two cats and a dog, but my personal "baby" is our Himalayan Persian. She is sooooo soft, and loves to cuddle. She is my de-stressor. As far as animals in general, I am a nut for elephants. They are a symbol of good luck you know? They are so big, majestic, and very family-oriented (at least the females anyway). Cami is a horse freak. Her room is decorated in horses. Horse border, pictures, shelves, curtain tied-backs, etc. She has stuffed horses everywhere, and her bed's headframe is made to look like a picket fence complete with horse-shoes attached!

I HAVE to go with the dog ... we have both a dog and two cats ... and the dog wins hands down ... he is just "so much part of the family" whereas the cats are there "when it suits them" ... the dog is loyal and devoted and part of everything that is going on ... the cats want to be fed and sit on your lap (again WHEN it suits them!) but they don't rush to the door with excitement when the family come home!! ... (the dog DOES!) ...
(p.s. when I only had a cat I would have voted for cats ... but I find when comparing the two there is just no comparison!! ;D)
