Someone recommended the CHADD group for me and my son with ADHD I am wondering if anyone had done this before.

i belonged to CHADD for awhile many years ago. it helped in some ways and hurt in other ways. very much like this website, it's a place to go where other people know exactly how you feel. you can ask questions and get involved or not. they seem to have certain people they like and head you toward for information and help. i can't remember who they are anymore. brittany never did go but i went trying to find someone to help me not feel so overwhelmed. on the other hand, brittany was probably in middle school so i had most of the teen years ahead of me. then the parents, like me now started talking about driving, college, drinking, etc. scared the you know what out of me! things i'd never even thought of. some nights i'd come home feeling more depressed than when i went. i guess if i'd needed more specific help for iep's and things, it would have done me more good. i think if you want to be involved and try to make a difference on a larger stage, it might be a good place to go. probably depends on each chapter as well. for me, this forum has made a bigger difference and can be accessed whenever you need it instead of when there is a meeting. karen

The first pieces of information I EVER got on adhd/add were "Chadd" documents ... and it was the most depressing literature I have ever read!! ... Chadd's statistics are horrendous and in MY OPINION totally totally, totally bent towards "If you don't medicate your child THIS could happen .... or THAT could happen" ... I am not sure if they are being paid anything by the drug companies but I suspect it!! Since that initial experience (several years ago!) I have avoided Chadd like the plague!!
