we don't have one of those game things, but we do have a Sonic the Hedgehog CD for the computer, so the kids play that every so often

Along the game cube, playstation (1or 2), or X box line?? We have 2 children an 8 adhd and 2 1/2 year old... Let me clarify it would be for those in-between seasons, we are very active outdoors normally... But we need more cat

Cat, My kid is a video game junkie. Personally, I feel that the Playstation 2 has more games to choose from, BUT the Gamecube has more games that are age appropriate. My child was 5 (now almost 7) when we bought his, and I really looked around. The problem is that there are too many teens and daddys out there who are addicted to the gory video games. The PS2 and X-box are a little more technogically advanced than the GameCube, so they offer a lot of games for older kids and adults. Now they still offer appropriate games for kids, just not as many as the GameCube, IMO. However, you can play DVDs and CDs on the PS2, I know (maybe the Xbox, too) so that is definitley a plus for them. There are good things and bad things about each system, I guess.

If any of you have a GameCube and haven't played Animal Crossing, you are really missing out! I'm addicted. It's a game the whole family can play together! Let's see...you are a person who moves to a town with almost no money. The store owner in town let's you buy a house and work it off by running errands for him. There are other people in town who you can talk to and also run errands for, if you choose. You can make money many ways, fishing, bug-hunting, finding and selling fossils, collecting and selling fruit, doing chores for your neighbors. It runs in real-time. When you first start the game, you set the date and the time. Up to three other players can "move into" your town with you. There is a post office so that you can send mail back and forth. The store sells furniture and wallpaper and carpet for your house and all the tools you need (fishing poles, shovels, ax, bug net, etc.) It's a blast!

I voted for Legend of Zelda because it is our favorite (yes, mine too) - but we also play Animal Crossings, Mario Party 5 and a bunch of others as well. We have the gamecube - which I personally love. The good thing is that DS can turn it on and off easily - doesn't get addicted to it. (He did in the beginning because it was NEW - and all we had was animal crossings - but I didn't mind because he had to do alot of reading so I figured it was good for him). So luckily we don't have to set limits for him . . . DD is a different story. I like Zelda as well because again - he has to do all reading and logic to figure everything out. Animal Crossings is a great game and totally age appropriate - no violence at all. JDmom - this really is such an awsome game! (It is actually the reason why we chose the gamecube). I do think the playstation 2 has more titles - but I do have to say - that I love the games that we have for the gamecube! (And the size is great plus it can be interactive with the gameboy advance). Animal Crossings, pikman etc. are all nonviolent games. I love the Zelda games and Mario Party 5 is a fun "board game" that both kids can play or DS can play with a friend that is also "nonviolent". Tak and the Magic JuJu is also a great game for DS(8). And Mario Kart is a fun racing type game that the kids can play together as well. DD loves the Rugrats games. The only games I would stay away from are the Disney games. We have Piglet and Mickey and the Magic Mirror and Monsters Inc. and they are AWFUL games that are too simplistic for older kids and to hard for their target audience of younger kids. Okay - I am rambling - yes I, too, have a lot of fun playing the gamecube. As far as the gameboy advance goes - zelda again is popular - and yes - even I have a problem with Pokemon (never liked the cartoons myself but - yes - a 35 mom loves playing the pokemon games).

DS-13 and all his friends have PS2. They are really into all the sports games where you create your own team and play other (usually college) teams. football is by far the most popular here. Some of the boys have vice city, but I dont allow it in my house. DD-10 inhearited big brothers PS1, and she likes gyro. (sp?) I have some computer games I like. DS also likes the fact that the PS2 can play CDs and DVDs since it is in his room.
