Hi, It's snowing here today in N Minnesota but at least the temp is above zero! I'm afraid that this is our "tropical hot spell" for a week or so , as it looks like we may go back into the deep freeze soon.
Hope your weather gets better.Around here we're usually looking at 6mos of winter.Take care.

Linda I counted to your reply, as I know how much you "love" snow, sorry to hear you´ve had more than your share of it so far ;D It´s so long time until spring Mctavish (I hope I spelled it right ;D) Our winter is also like from oct-nov to march and very often to the end of april, a lot more than doctr order´s ;D Temp. has been around -8 to -1, so it´s quite nice to shovell snow that doesn´t stick to the shovell Well. atleast this mean´s good skiing weather and hey, no need to go to gym to "pumb up" Snowing has continued all day, there is hardly no evidence of our 2 hour´s work outside Marja

I wouldn't mind a little more snow. We only have about a foot on the ground here in Valley Forge. It is pretty and has kept a lot of lousy drivers inside. The weather has been "cold" by local standards, but since I grew up in New England on the ski slopes, I still haven't put on my winter coat except to go skiing.
My driveway is down to pavement, the only one of the street, since it's been too cold and windy for most folks to spend the time outside.
Last night, around midnight, I got from my volunteer job at the ski area. We have night skiing here until 10 p.m. and I am on the ski patrol, so we are the last to actually get off the mountain. I parked my car and started out to the mail box, while DH pulled in with his truck (We started shifts at different hours, so we had to take 2 vehicles). My beautiful clean driveway had developed a seamless layer of black ice... and the mail box was at the opposite end of the drive. I took two steps, and whoosh... I was down. Thankfully, I was still all dressed for being outside, and the added padding on my rump softened the pavement. I move more quickly to get up as DH was backing his truck up and I didn't know if he could see me! This morning I am just feeling stiff, but haven't found any bruises.
So, if you know anyway to add more snowy padding to my driveway to make the next spill a softer landing, I will take it. I was sooo proud of my clean driveway until the fall. It changes the meaning of "Pride Cometh before the fall".
Well, now I am off to home depot to buy my very first ever rock salt.
Happy snow flakes to all, and long live the Patriots. (Since today is the Super Bowl, it may be my last time to hold my head up about that too!)

We were supposed to get the snow after Matavish did, but it never came! I live in a area where all precipitation somewhow misses. So far we have only had 7 inches of snow all year! When we lived on the other side of WI we were right by Lake Michigan and we got tons and tons of it.
But I agree with Mctavish, at least it is above 0. Yesterday was the first time in a week. One night last week it was -46 with the wind chill. To make matters worse they are doing rolling blackouts due to a low energy supply. DH's boss (lives right next door) got hit last week. All the pipes in the house froze and they couldn't milk until 6 AM. (they usually start at 4) Poor cows, having nursed babies I can sympathize with them! I just hope we don't get hit. The only way you can be exempt is if you have chronically ill children or someone on medical equipment that requires electricity. I can just see my house freezing. That happened all the time in our old house and it is a real mess!
Tridlette, maybe we can stuff your rump with toilet paper like they used to on that one commerial with the little kids! ;D

Thank you all for the ideas of toilet tissue to pad my bottom, but I have plenty of the natural stuff I was going to come back and delete the message, but since folks have commented on my clutsiness already, I better not. The snow pack here has put the deer into a frantic state. Valley Forge is perhaps the highest population of deer in the world. There is one less tonight... I went to get milk after my Patriots won the Super Bowl. DH is upset that I got venison while I was out too! Got myself a 12 point buck ;D I'll need a new grill on my Durango, but at least I just got the inspection sticker on Friday, so with the headlight out, I can just show the police the bill for inspection that shows the light went out since Friday. My mechanic is a dear friend, so hopefully I can stop by tomorrow to get the headlight replaced. This should be the end of the bad luck streak now. And say a prayer that the deer's family will survive without him. Patrick is soooo worried about them. He was with me and didn't see it coming. He told the police officer that all he saw was 2 big puffs of fur. The important thing is that we were not hurt, and the damage to the car is really minor. I drove it home the 1/2 mile. I had asked DH to get the milk, but he said no since he had a beer during the game. Thank goodness he held his ground. PA instituted new tough drunk driving laws effective today! So, forget about falling in the driveway, I won't complain about little things like that for a while! Sleep well. And, like it said in the super bowl commercial... all your teams are undefeated again as of tomorrow!

Yes...undefeated!!!
I'm curious, how tough are the Drunk driving laws out by you? They just lowered them here a few months back. We used to be .10, but now it is .08. I don't think you can even have 2 beers and still blow under.

Seems snow and ice have been all around us, but never makes it here. They have had quite a mess with downed power lines and such in northern Ga so I guess I should be glad we haven't gotten that. Snow is one thing, but the ice and just hard freezing is something else! Well, here's hoping the 'ol groundhog won't see his shadow for you folks up north today! Tridlette, glad noone was hurt (except the deer of course!)

Puxatawny Phil saw his shadow this morning, so 6 more weeks of winter. But around here they say if he doesn't see his shadow it means there will only be a month and a half left of winter! hehehe
I also heard on the local news radio this morning that Pittsburgh Pete, Phil's cousin, saw his shadow out there meaning there will be 6 more months of Pothole season too. Darn!
I took a look at the car in daylight... a few tufts of hair, that was the first "puff" that Patrick saw. The second "puff" must have been the ball of dung that is on the windshield wiper! We had a great laugh from that this morning. My mechanic told me to bring the car in at noon and he'll take care of the light bulb! YEAH.
More snow and freezing rain due in tomorrow, and more on Friday again. LOVE WINTER!!!
