We just picked up my new car Friday, DS (8yo) asked if I would let him drive it when he is older.... I immediately said yes without thinking... after a few seconds DH gave me the elbow pointing out that it is a stong posibility that he will drive this car ....It gave me the creaps to realise that in 8 years from now DS will be most likely driving .... its a scary thought.... tey are growing up so fast

I might say yeah to stuff, then tell them to think of the possibilities. ;D
We have an 88 ram charger with an 83 motor(we think) and we have worked on the darn thing our selves(advantage of not a computerized job)
Tara has driven it a few times upand down the dirt road, but still asks when we are getting something new

Hey Linda, you can play poor man like us. Not enough money for another vehicle. Or you can do what my dad did. He found a guy trying to get rid of a vehicle from his kid who went to college, no clean out no nothin, just the car.... (got a pair of sweats or two, a few stuffed animals and his graduation tassel, still got the tassel for when I see someone that looks like him) OK 78 Monarch, BUT IT RAN FOR 4 years after that!!! I am dreaming of a new car! I have a 1990 Buick Le Sabre. It is big, old, heavy, rusty, and not feul efficient, but free. Gotta love free.
My dad bought it in 1992. Then it went to my sister when she left for college, then she upgraded to a newer car, so my little brother got it, but then he upgraded to a newer car. Then I started going back to school in June of 2002. I got it sort of as a joke, since it was the "school car," but it runs good and I am too cheap to buy a new one. I am currently in a race with my friend to see who's runs longer, he is at 192,000 miles, and I am only at 189,000 miles, so I have to hold on for a while yet.

I had the same thing happen last Spring. I bought a new Accord and Cami asked, " When I turn 16 can I get a car like this?" I thought, "hmmm, that's five year from now and this car will be paid off then." So I told her, "When you turn 16, you can have this one." Then I can get me another new one! hehe

We "inherited" cars from our parents. My brother hung out with the people who were bought nice brand new cars by their parents - repeatedly, as in, one of his friends' sister wrecked two cars and still got new ones. His mom then had the nerve to make snide comments to mine about "I wish I didn't have to work". Mom about bit her tongue trying not to say "If I bought my kids new cars everytime they wrecked one, I'd have to to."
However, I have a new car now - which I have a sinking feeling I'll not be getting back once I come back from Russia.
