how does the quote box work?

I used to know how to put something in quotes so it shows up in the box but i forgot how. i know we covered this awhile ago but i couldn't find the thread. is it the same for the moving/ different color text too?

to quote someone, click on the quote icon in their reply (far right at the top of the header)

If you want to shorten the quote, just delete what you don't want in it, but leave the brackets in place.

For the different color text and stuff, you have to click on the reply icon at the bottom and use the regular reply page, not the quick reply box. You can pick the special effects from the area above (I think it is above, since I am on the quick reply page) the smileys. You just have to put each specialty inside the brackets so that the system recognizes the beginning of each before the message and the end of each after the message.
