I did read some other posts, but I think they are too old. There is nothing in my profile indicating I can add my own picture. Am I missing something obvious?

Hi funnycat, if you go to your profile, you´ll find a place where you can add your avatar, it can be a pic from villagephotos/ripway account, you just put on your account add and there you go

I think this might be harder than it seems. I have a picture in Ripway, but I can't get it here as an avatar either. Hmmmmm?

Once you're in your profile, click on Modify Profile. Then about halfway down, there's place to paste a URL for your avatar. If you have a picture at a place like Ripway, you can copy the URL from there and paste it.

Ok, ok, ok! So the "modify profile" was staring me in the face! Now that I found it, I still couldn't figure out how to put my own avatar in. Maybe it has something to do with having a mac computer? Maybe it has something to do with me just not getting it. The smiley guy is good enough for me. Thanks for everyone's help!

Anne,
Does it help to reduce the memory of a jpeg used in an avatar?

Wow George ! .. you Got me !! ;D ;D It certainly is necessary and helps a lot to reduce the SIZE of a jpg or a jpeg or a gif file ... and in so doing you will in turn reduce the memory size of that file ... so generally the answer is YES ... but only obviously if the file is too big for an avatar....
