Here is a little tid bit of info I got today from a sleep clinic.. Children who have OSAS (sleep apnea) may seem sluggish and may preform poorly in school. Sometimes they are labeled "slow" or "lazy". Other times, they are labeled as having ADHD or ADD . Its estimated that up to 25% of children with ADD or ADHD may have OSAS (sleep apnea), or are misdiagnosed with ADHD/ADD tendencies or disorders. Symptoms are: - "snore" or "squeak" during sleep times - appear to have difficulty in breathing during sleep. - have daytime hyperactivity, (sleepy children often become fussy and overactive rather then appearing to be sleepy) Since it is NOT normal for a child to snore, report all snoring episodes to thier doctor or health care professional ASAP.
