I sent you an email with a few ideas, but I thought maybe this question needs input from many of us. I may not be in the majority.
Right now, if I don't log on I can't see any of the threads. If I were a new person looking for answers to ADHD I wouldn't know if this site was worth my time.
There are reasons to have private forums. I just don't know if that's the intention for this forum. The adhd.com forum had people drop in and out as needed. Who know how many lurkers read and benefited but never posted?
Being open to the world can mean more work for the moderators. Maybe that's a big concern. If the current moderators are overworked do you need volunteers?
Thanks for this site! I love it! I'm even letting Bean Sprout post here though he isn't very talkative yet. I think he's ready for a support group though. And this feels like a safe one!

Not to answer for Veronika, but I can see all the posts when I am not logged in. Is something maybe wrong with your browser? If I am not logged in, obviously, I get no indications ("new" or blue dots) of posts that I have read.

I can see all the posts too without being logged in...my problem is I can not log into behavior without getting "booted" but have no problem logging in elsewhere. I sure do not have an answer for it either!

Well doggone! I thought the site worked like that for everyone! I wonder what makes things act differently for different people.

Well we have more computers than people at our house. One sprout is growing a server farm . All of them are on different versions of everything. I'll do some experimenting and see what I find.

I can't see the posts unless I log on. I am told that the site is private. I think my computer is fine.

I set up the Forum so people can read the topics, but can't reply to a post or add a post unless they are members. That was a suggestion from the owner of Proboards. He told me that alot of people will go to a site and post under different names just to cause problems. For example a member named 'ricky'(something) started posting on Renee's site. And he was leaving nasty messages like 'get your kids high on Ritalin, they'll like it." Since he was a registered member, his name and email could be blocked. If he was just lurking around and leaving posts like that I would have no way of banning him from the site. The reason I started the Forum was so the members from ADHD.com wouldn't loose contact with eachother, and for new members to have a safe place to talk, like we did on the other site. (And I love doing it.) We don't need immature people like that bothering us. Especially when there are some new members who really need help, they won't know if it's a serious post or not.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. If you are still having problems viewing the forums without logging in, let me know. There could be something wrong on my end.

Veronika, I keep getting an error message when I log in (I originally registered as Savvymom, but had to re-register as Savvymom1 to get in at all.) Maybe it is just a glitch, but I couldn't even go and read the latest postings. Anything I should try to do differently?
I was able to get in today with my newest username.

Been meaning to tell you that I can now see the posts without logging in. I didn't change anything on my internet browser so I'm not sure why it works that way now.

My 'puter was funny at first - but thanks to Sierra I am now a legal resident of this forum! Anyway, I can read the posts without logging in.
