:)everyone, I am Melissa a friend of Lindas, she told me about add support. My son 8 years old is in the process of being diagnosed with add. The school teacher is the one that notice and wanted special ed testing and that all came back normal but one of the doctors that tested him said he would like him to be tested for add. He has a hard time with alot of the work mostly because he can't focus. Now that I am learning more I see alot of traits in him. My husband is addhd he took meds when he was younger and it did help with school for him. With my 8 year old being my first child I just did not see the signs. At first I was really sad and confused about the whole thing. The more I learn the better I feel! I have read some of the information everyone has posted and it has been so helpful, just to know I am not alone and everyone knows how I feel. Thank you so much to all of you and especially you Linda for showing me the site and giving me good advice  !!!! |

Hey Melissa, welcome to the site. Its a wonderful place full of support and people who are in the same spot we are.  I love the site, and wished I learned about it years ago with the adoption of my children, all 3, all of whom have ADHD and one with Severe ADHD with other diagnosies to boot.

Yes we have ladies AND gents !! Miles ... WELCOME ABOARD Melissa ... You say your son is being diagnosed with ADD ... (rather than AdHd?) ... this is the same as my son has (i.e. hyperactivity is not an issue?) ... There are some fundamental differences between the two (ADD vs ADHD) but also some real similarities ... Lack of focus being a real problem in BOTH scenarios !! Keep us posted PLEASE how the diagnosis goes ... IT IS GOOD TO SEE YOU HERE !!

Welcome Melissa. As everyone has said, this place is a God send! Lots of nice, caring folks who understand all the good and bad things that happen to you, day to day. Sometimes an understanding ear is all it takes to get over a rough day. Glad you found us!

:)Everyone Thank you so much for your support. We went to the doc's on Tuesday and he was diagnosed with add. He is now on Concerta today was his first day and seemed to do fine. The doctor also said his sugar level was 120 so she is going to retest him for that. After we left the doc's we went out to lunch and had a really good time together. When we got home he seemed to lay around and acted sad but when I asked if he was ok he said nothing was wrong. Today he was much happier though. I will keep you all updated. Thanks again
