;D Went to see dd sing at a local hospital today. I was instructed to "Not make my presence known". One of dd's long time friends did a discreet "move at the wrist" wave, another came up to me and said "I don't know you but Happy Holidays!" and several of the kids I know smiled at me. Dd ran up to within about 2 feet of me and said "Girl Scouts is this afternoon, I'll see you later" very quickly and ran off. I guess 10 year olds just morphed out of rocks and don't have parents! ;D ;D ;D
(they sounded wonderful by the way. Their taped music had a few bumps but they were wonderful!)

My 14 y.o. stays after every day for ROTC drills. While I sit in the parking lot at 4 o'clock to pick him up, I usually get mobbed with kids. The first few weeks of school I didn't know where I was going to pick him up, so I parked the car and went up to the side walk where all the kids wait. I started chatting with them. I get called "mike's mom" all the time now. This afternoon, while he was still at drill, the phone rang. One of the girls needed a ride to the dance tonight, so she called and asked me for a ride! Silly me, I went and picked her up at home, and took her to the dance... Michael stayed at school since his dad is the DJ tonight, and they had to set up! I am now the TOWN chauffeur! The moral is... don't worry if your kids don't know you, as long as you know all the other kids yours are hanging out with, yours will be just fine!
