I was playing in forums earlier while I was eating dinner. Dinner consisted of sausage with dark Karo corn syrup.
I was cutting the sausage on my desk and the plate slipped. The sausages, covered in syrup, landed ON my keyboard.
Luckily, they weren't too terribly drippy. I got most of it off with a baby wipe. However, my right shift now has a lovely spot of syrup that holds it down whenever I push it. Weeee!
Just thought y'all would find it amusing.

;D that is hallarious.. don't you love those 'I told you so" comments... OK .. how to resolve the issue Allanque.. all the keys on your keyboard are just like a cover for the button .. with a image of the letter placed on the cover.. if a certain key is still sticking.. disconnect the keyboard from the computer.. carefully with a small flat head screwdriver.. gently prie < spelling i apologise? > the key up.. it will sorta 'pop' off.. clean it with a q-tip with a lil windex or alcohol.. and then you will have to 'snap' the key cover back in place... you may have to attempt to replace the cover a few times as it will only go back into place ONE way ... but you won't hurt your keyboard or anything by doing this .. they are more durable then people think. < reason I know this is because I worked in computers everyday .. I always hear the .. no food or drink .. and I go .. ya right I am not a child.. and then BANG .. look what I did.. so I am constantly cleaning up after myself > Good Luck ..... if all else fails.. but syrup over the other keys so they all work the same as the 'sticky' one .. and you will never notice the difference.. ;D ;D

Danielle, unfortunately it's a laptop. Popping off the keys doesn't work quite the same as it does on a regular keyboard.
Yes, you can use me as an example.
And yes, I'm sitting here eating my oatmeal while I type.

I was going to tell you to put it in the dishwasher... which I have done with this keyboard many times. It was the keyboard at the ambulance, so there were a lot of times someone was at the computer with a drink or meal when we got called out, and the jumping would spill an entire can of Coke right into the keyboard. I would take it home, run it through the dishwasher and then turn it upside down to dry for 3 days. Just be sure not to put it on heat dry!
But I guess that won't work with a lap top!
I have a few family members that work for computer manufacturers... let me give them a quick try! I'll let you know if I hear any great answers.

After the first spill, we trird to wash it up, BUT have come to the conclusion it is alot easier on Mike's sanity to just go buy a new one.....even though the other 3 boards that we have been through are STILL down stairs in teh basement as back up

[glow=red,2,300]EXPERT ADVICE!!![/glow]
Make sure it is unplugged while cleaning it, and leave it unplugged until it is COMPLETELY DRY or it could fry!
She said there isn't much to do at the consumer end, but use a baby wipe and brush it gently around the keys, moving it to a clean spot every wipe. Use a thin sheet of plastic or cardboard to push it between the keys and just sweep as best you can.
That's about all she could suggest!
Good luck!

OMG i got it... Call you homeowners and add electronic devices to your policy .. where they cover it even if you toss it out the window.. and then in a day or so give em a call.. and say .. i spilled food all over it .. put it in dishwasher.. and it didn't work .. and get a new one ;D or... you can just smear syrup over all the other keys and it will be all better ..

Well, now instead of that key not coming back up, it just doesn't go down. Apparently the syrup dried into a nice rock where it was underneath it. So I just don't use that shift key.
*Note to self: 'shift' has an F in it.
