Another site I had gone to yesterday told me I should get one of these done B4 I give her the meds??
what do you think? The psychologist said she has ADHD he sees many kids for it.
he said about 60% of the kids that do come in for testing having some other then ADHD and he can most the time tell right away..
He said the Kids that come in with ADHD with High Hyperactivity he can pick them out.. there the ones that are under his tables climbing on his chairs getting inot everything LOL and thats my daughter hehe
He said her Hyperactivity is way up that and thats what is making her not be able to stick with one thing for very long
I dont know what to do now.. Then at the other site they said mabey she is BP I dont think she is there is no down with her allways up..
So what do you all think.. Go for it try the meds I want to start out with the lowest dose posible can they do that?

Nichole - always remember that YOU are always in control of the meds. They can definitely start her on the lowest dose and then work her up to the correct dosage. And if YOU feel that something isn't right - then you stop the medication, call the doctor, ask for something different! I know this isn't the case - but just for future reference always remember - don't ever let yourself be railroaded into something by your doctor - expert or not. Always go by your gut!
Also - I don't really know what multidiscipline team testing is. For us - we went to a pediatric neuropsychologist and neurologist who gave DS extensive testing - basically to weed out any other disorders, look for possible learning disabilities that could be masked by the adhd, etc. There are other disorders that have ADHD symptoms. And there are comorbids (other disorders) that commonly coexist with ADHD. I would NOT worry yourself about bipolar disorder right now. I would just concentrate on the adhd.
Hyperactivity can be common in many things - did you know that a symptom of gifted children is the constant motion? Apparently they absolutely love moving to the point where it often gets diagnosed as hyperactivity.
It can't hurt to have more testing done. But if you feel comfortable - that is what is important to you right now. You can try the medication - see how it works. Again, to echo what everyone else has written - medication is one part of a two-part program - behavior modification is a definite must as well. The meds can help her focus more and keep her energy level down - but there are still so many things that you will have to work with her on as well. Find out what your psychologist will be doing on this front as well.
I guess one question to ask yourself is - what tests did your psychologist do to diagnosis your daughter? If you feel comfortable with the answer then that is all you need. If you don't, then get more testing done.

There are a couple of people who can answer that better than I. Oh Mamma has taken her son to the AMEN clinic - he uses a scan that can show blood flow, etc. She can tell you more about it. You can also visit the AMEN Clinic Website. Dr. Amen has also written a lot of great books. He is definitely on the cutting edge of ADHD!! I personally believe he is a pioneer and hope that others in the medical community will follow suit!
