Well everyone,
We went back to the doctor yesterday to find the results out for Jenna's 4 hour evaluation... Sure enough...she's been diagnosed with ADHD, and they also mentioned to us that she's rating at 92% for social anxiety. *sigh* They are recommending starting her out on Strattera (sp); BUT I have to wait until next Friday to find out if that's what our family doctor is willing to give her...
I can't say I'm surprised at all by the diagnosis... I was honestly expecting it...but it doesn't make it any easier to swallow. If anything, our HAVING a diagnosis has left me with even LESS patience!! Since I KNOW there is something out there that can help her attention and focus, it's hard for me to wait to get her started on it! (Does that make sense?)
Gotta run...
Anna

It makes alot of sense that this would make you more impatient. I am the same way, I want a med. for my daughter right now that will work right now and I do not want to wait. I had to wait forever just to get into the psychiatrist and that just about killed me I have no patience at all. I think it is normal to want your chid better right away. good luck. Shelli

Anna Fist of all; I´am clad you now have the dx, so you can pat yourself o the back of being on the right track for persisting this dx to be done The dx does not cure this instantly, but in my opinion it help´s little to understand all the "funny" thing´s our kid´s attend to do It´s a start and dx give´s you some bullet´s with school. I, too, can understand your impatient´s of getting the right med... but this may take a while to seak the right med and dosage, I know you dont want to hear that, but that´s how it goes, saddly enough. You´re in the right way to make thing´s better for your dd and your family, I keep my thump´s up for your med-trial Marja P.s. I hope I didnt sound too depressing or offending, that´s not my meaning at all, being in the same spot as you are.

Oh Anna I too understand completely your impatience to get going and find the right med! ... I was just the same when my son Sam was diagnosed! ... but with the diagnosis you are on the RIGHT track ... you now can only go forward ... OK sometimes it might feel as if you are taking a couple of steps backwards BUT in the bigger picture you WILL be moving forward ...
Having said that I honestly think diagnosis is the toughest time of all ... (even when you were pretty sure of what the diagnosis would be) ... but just remember you ARE moving forward and will be from this point ....
GOOD LUCK ANNA !
