Well, I have just been called by the psychologist who performed the 5 hr. evaluation w/ DD. She told me that the eval. scores do indicate that DD has ADD. We go in on the 27th to furthur discuss scoring results and treatment. I don't know whether to be happy that we know what the trouble is, or sad that the ADD has been confirmed. I'd suspected this for quite a while, but the realness of it is just starting to sink in. This, along with another issue I have going on, has me feeling a little overwhelmed. Ah well, better to know then not, right?

Just keep in mind she's no different today than she was yesterday. She's the same wonderful little girl that God gave you and she will survive and prosper and become a wonderful woman with your help and the help of your doctors. It will just take a little more patience. ;D

Thank you Linda. You're right, she is still my wonderful little girl and that will never change. And now we are better able to help her.

Be happy you know!!! The early treatment is started the better off the kids are. A lot of it will not become learned behavior, and she will overcome alot with your help, support and love. Medication or other alternatives can be started now before things get way out of hand. Good luck. Shelli

((hugs)) It's heartbreaking isn't it? Even when we have that FEELING that they have it, it is really hard to accept when it's official! At least now she'll get the help she needs to overcome!!
We find out Jenna's results on the 27th as well...

Kbugsmom ((((((((((((((((hug´s)))))))))))))))))))))))) even if it feel´s overwhelming to find out offically... it´s better to know in the long run. Now you can start and get all the support that you´ll need for her. Without that dx, she could easily be labeled as "bad, unco-operative" that´ll do no good. I know it´s hard, but you´ll get throught this too. Now you dont have to wonder anymore Marja

Kbugsmom.... Forewarned is forearmed ... and now you have taken a HUGE step forward ....
I so much agree with Linda (Texasmom) in the respect that just remember she is still the same little girl that she was yesterday. I always remember whey my son was diagnosed and I became almost panicky that treatment should start ... and the psych said to me : "Hey ... slow down ... Sam has had this all this life ... a few more days will NOT make any difference" ... and they were right ! ... To ME diagnosis was such a BIG thing ... but in the bigger picture it was simply a confirmation of something which had always been there! ... BUT it was also a major step FORWARD ! ... which I am sure it will be for you too ...
GOOD LUCK!
