We have recently requested an initial evaluation for an IEP for our 15 year old son. He has been tested as gifted but he has always had VERY impulsive ADHD behavior. Does anyone know what I should expect to happen during this evaluation? Some of the paperwork is marked ED, does this stand for Emotionally disturbed?Do they normally come to your home to evaluate the homelife?

Welcome aboard reg!
Glad you found us.
I see Barry has already pointed out my running thread on my daughter's IEP process.
The school social worker did come to our house (while Brooke was in school) to talk to my wife and I. She asked all types of "quality of life" type questions. She was concerned primarily with how Brooke was being raised/treated and that the her homelife was stable. She also asked about family history of ADHD, how she acted as a baby, and things like that.
Over all the process takes a while, and in our case it took about 4 months from when we first requested it until on was in place. But it was worth it and Brooke is doing a whole lot better.

For our IEP the social worker did not come to our house, we met with him at school and he asked alot of questions starting with pregnancy through present time. It was about health, enviroment, stability. any issues besides learning disabilities that may affect his ability to learn. They did IQ testing. It took a while to get everything in place and going.
