Well, we started the paper work. My son is on a waiting list to be tested for ADD. Our local college has a program that will do the testing at a low price. Our first step is lots of paperwork and a hearing test. Then we have to wait till sometime in Feb for the rest of the testing to be done. I know this may seem long, but this child has made it this far, I pray God gives me the strength to make. Now that the school knows that he will be tested for ADD, the teachers will be working more closely with him until then. I Thank God, both my boys attend a great school. The support that I have received from everyone there is just great. The teacher will be sending me most of his notes, (he daydreams while the rest of the class is taking notes for test), on the side. We don't want him to know about these, because we don't want him to become depended on this. He needs to stay focused on his work. I just hope and pray that the day comes soon when I don't have to constantly hear me say, "PAY ATTENTION", "LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE DOING", "STAY FOCUSED"......I know in the end it will work out, its just getting there. I finally had my appointment with the child psych last night on the final diagnosis. She said dd is severe adhd but did not have any comorbid conditions. THANK GOD! We have an appointment with a med doctor on Monday and another appointment with the Child Psych on Christmas Eve for play therapy to double check that she is not having any depression or anxiety issues that she may be hiding from me. The doc also offers social skills learning, coping techniques, self-esteem training, parent education, etc. Luckily, my insurance pays for 20 visits a year with only a 20 dollar co-pay.
Our pediatrician required hearing tests and an exam with an optomologist. Hearing is great, but dd is starting to have problems with a lazy eye and we are working on that. Thank goodness for the insurance again.
