Its me again and today Im having a bad day.My son constantly gallops around on his hands and knees making SO much noise,he roars and screams and even when I ask him to,he wont keep quiet. He is constantly making my 5 year old daughter cry and basicly he´s a whirlwind on legs...I have a huge headache and some times I just have to leave the room to get some peace He´s had to stay home from school today because there was an outing to the zoo and as his teacher cant be bothered with him anymore,I didnt feel safe leaving him with her on an outing...so hes missing out on the fun because of her too. Im waiting for the doctor to phone with his bloodtest results etc,and of course he has to tell me what medication to start him on..and I was wondering if the medication would calm him down a little? Did you all see the reults straight away when your children began medication? How will it effect his personality? This whole situation is just gets me down sometimes because right now no one seems to want to be with my son..my mom cant handle him,my mother in law cant either, and now his teacher.... I hardly have a relationship with husband anymore,we cant go out on our own,so he has started going out alone..Im alone with my son ALL the time and everyone keeps reminding me how hard he is to control..Im so depressed and lonley Im just hoping that the doctor will phone soon and that this sitaution can be fixed.

earplugs? LOL... As for the mecication yes I did see a difference instantly.... Our first try was concerta, unfortunately the difference wasnt in the right direction for my sd.... Concerta made her very obsessive, it doesnt sound like a bad thing, but believe me it was worse then yelling and screaming... Sd would see a piece of lint on the floor, and until it was gone there was nothing else in her world (my sd is also autistic)... Then we tried regular adderall, this was simply not enough.... The girl went bonkers after lunch, bouncing off the walls etc.... Adderall xr 30 was our next one, and it has worked well for her for 2 years... We are about to change it though, as it isnt affective, and we are also worried about canada recalling it... What I am trying to say, is yes it does and will help, but it is pretty rare to "get it right" on the first try... I have been where you are, my sd was politely "asked to leave" 3 daycares in a little over a year... She simply wasnt manageable, in a school type situation (with other kids)... At school, it didnt get any better until the second year of first grade (we held her back) when we finally found the right medication... Can your husband handle him? Maybe your husband can watch him to give you some time to go out? You really have to give yourself some reprieve, even if it is just alone time at the library (or whatever you like for me it is CASINO'S!!!)... I am not a whole lot of help, and I certainly hope you find the right medication for your son, easier then we did.... Just hang in there, you are a good mom, if you werent you wouldnt be so hurt, and seeking for answers.... cat

Hi Gina, I á m so sorry for you having such a no good, rotton day that´s so familiar for all of us, some day´s are just way too much to handle, but I hope for tomorrow to be a better day. As for the medication; it depend´s so much on wich medication and what kind of a child. have you looked through our medical-section, There is lot´s of info and if you have question´s, you´ll get an answer very quickly. Some stimulant´s do affect almost immediately, but then again, it´s always personal responce... I know what you mean about other´s opinion´s, that´s so hard to handle, when people dont sree anything but negative on your child and dont hezatete to say it eather Have you tried to tell them to shut up if they have nothing else to say, is that possible, sometime´s it´s the only thing to do. As much as it hurt´s you to hear them, it´s nothing compared to what your child feel´s lidtening to them, so for his sake; dont let them say thing´s like that infront of him. I know; hard to do, but if there is a way, I´d try that. i did it with my mil, and in the long run...it worked Sorry to ramble so long, just wanted to asure you it´ll get better

:)Gina. We were one of the lucky ones who got the meds right the first time The meds do help to calm the person down sorta like helping to "Put on the Brakes" It did not and does not effect there personality. I am sorry you are having a rotten day....I still have a few myself...I think we all do. If the Doc doesn't call soon...call him/her.

For my son, even though we have had some adjustment on the meds, there was a difference the first day. He was able to sit down and do his work for the first time. He still has good and bad days, but now there are more good than bad.
