Hi! My name is Kendra and I am new to the group. My youngest of three children was recently diagnosed with ADHD. We are all struggling to adjust. Since his diagnosis we have tried different medications, and we have settled on strattera, however I would really like to know if anyone knows of treatments other than medication. Right now I am looking for information, support and any answers on how to deal with this that anyone has.

Welcome Kendra! Glad you found us. I posted a note to you in the behavior section where I found your other note.
There is a lot of us out here to help you through this. I always like to hear newly diagnosed parents searching out the best options for their own children. I made the mistake of trusting too much when my son was first diagnosed.
Meds work great for some kids, natural alternatives work better for others. There is a lot of trials that we conduct on our own kids, and you will find info. here that is perfect for you, and you will also find things that just plain don't apply.
We NEVER take offense to anyone's differences here. Ask all the questions you want. Nothing you can ask will ever come across as a dumb question (One of our moderators, Kaiti, has already asked all the really dumb ones anyway!).
And we are here for each other day and night, across several continents, so feel like you can come to us anytime.
Welcome to the family, welcome home!

Tis true, I have already asked all the dumb questions, and the ones I didn't cover Trid did Welcome home, my son was dx'ed almost 2 yrs ago with ADHD, heavy on the HHHHHH, my daughter just has an attitude that won't quit Anyhow, there is so much here that is very helpful and insightful as well. If you go to the natural alternatives section, there is information that pertains to the Feingold Program, that is what we do. We don't go the med route, but as Tridlette said, I don't take offense if someone else chooses too. What ever you do is best for you, until someone walks a mile in your shoes.......you know what I mean. Look around and post as often as you want. If you have any information that might be of help to any of us, you are more than welcome to share. Welcome home Kaiti
