Yesterday, I met up with my girl friend, Mel, who is a 43 y.o. SAHM with profound ADHD (she takes 80 mg. of Adderall, twice a day, total of 160 mg!)
I was to meet her at 1 p.m. but when I called her cell phone, it was turned off. I called the house and got no answer. So I went to lunch with DS. When we were leaving Taco Bell, I saw the nursery and crafts store across the road had a going out of business sale. Since two of my boys have fine motor problems, I decided to stop and pick up some small crafts projects for their OT program.
Well, they were out of craft supplies, but I found a football for DS, and they had lawn fertilizer, so I had to grab it while it was so cheap. I didn't know how big my lawn is, so I had to ask for help. I tried to focus on what he was telling me, but in the end, I just bought two different types of fertilizer. Now, I can't remember whether to put down the orange bag first or the purple bag. Hmmm? Oh, and while I am here, why not buy a new nozzle for my garden hose? Make that two.
Well, I tried to call Mel again. Still no answer, but then I remember she had a service man coming to work on her furnace between 12 and 2, so she must be home. I drove over to her place.
The story goes that Mel can't find her cell phone. She heard the house phone ring, but she couldn't find the cordless either! We chatted for an hour, while DS 12 (homeschooled) did his school work. Next thing I knew, she had showed me this article with the link posted above. I was reading it when her DD came in from school. Her DD 9 is OMG organized, with it and no where near ADHD. (her DS 7 is as bad as mom and ODD as well.)
Her DD read over my shoulder and was laughing so hard at what she read, and so I felt compelled to tell her about my day.
Mel and I were supposed to plan the agenda for a meeting for next Tuesday night. Still no agenda, but Mel is also an OT, so she took me to her crafts shelf and we found some great stuff to use for my DS's OT.
My DS 14 called my cell phone wondering if I forgot where home is, and to remind me that I had to have him to school for 6 p.m. But Michael, what time is it? Ummm... Mom, it is 5:40! Where did the time go?
Okay, I'm on my way... just as soon as I figure out where I set down my car keys at my friend's house (who remember is profoundly ADHD and therefore lives amid CHAOS ~ as in the house Can't Handle Another Ounce of S***)
He was late to drill team practice, and had to give the colonel 50 extra push ups. He requested that I had to do them too! BUT... OMG... my arm is still in a cast. That's okay, DS arranged that I had to stand at attention for 10 minutes in front of the entire squadron!
Guess what? I was on time to pick him up at 8 p.m.
And my DH doesn't think I have attention problems?
