Jeez, Trid, don't hold Mark against me, the goof ball Bobbie, a teacher told me before she was told by the other parents, "I feel so badly for her, with all that she puts u p with and tries to do" Don't feel sorry for me chicky, I look for the bright side of things. I have nice calves because I am always on my toes That's what I told the teacher, to which, she just nodded

THANK YOU ALL FOR SUCH A WARM WELCOME.
I really am looking forward to sharing ideas, stories, challenges and friendship. I can tell from reading all these post's that there are some great friendships here and that is great.
Here's a little defining moment for me....
yesterday was my sons end of the first trimester parent teacher confernece.... and when I came in and sat down the teacher laughed and said " Well, I'm not sure theres really anything I can tell you that you don't already know" You see, I have almost daily sometimes all day, email conversations with her about his day, what he is doing, what he isn't, etc....
sometimes it's a blessing, other times I hate it because I just never know what she is going to tell me.
I am on the verge of requesting some form of acedemic intervention. Right now I am struggling with this on my own because I don't want it to be obvious to other students that he is getting "Special Ed". Part of his social anxiety is an extreme fear of embarassment. He doesn't like having to do anything different than the rest of the class.
His real challenge is organization of course. But he really struggles with reading and language arts, well when you struggle with these, it makes the other topics so hard to keep up with also. He just has such a hard time retaining the info he just read. I'm not sure what kind of help the school kind give for that problem.
I think I will scour your boards a little more closely because I'm sure there are plenty of you out there that have "been there, done that" if any one knows which board topic I should head to, that would be great.
Better go and get some actual work done at work.
Have a great day everyone and thanks again for the wonderful welcome.

What I found with my son was that his retention was fine. But he had trouble paying attention, because he was so districtible. So it wouldn't get in there to begin with. And if he did know something, he couldn't show that too well because he was incapable of handwriting (was dysgraphic). Even now, he can barely sign his name. So I took him out of school for five years and worked with him verbally and with short lessons (20 minutes) and lots of exercise breaks. And he learned how to type like the wind. Like you, Bobbie, we have two sons. The older with ADHD is now 18. The younger one without ADHD is 9. As individuals, they are totally different.
Welcome again.
Barry

Looks like I missed a little fun today while working. But now I have a vision of Paul in his undies celebrating his birthday. Picture Tom Cruise to the tune of Ol Time Rock n Roll. ;D ;D
