Are there any men taking Strattera who wrestle with the horrific sexual side effects, who have compensated with a male sexual support med? Will this work?
(I ask because it's an awfully expensive experiment to try if you don't have any real information beforehand, and one wonders if it could just be made worse ...)

Douglas, I am not a man...obviously, but I do have a friend who uses one of the male drugs. He talks very highly of it. He also told me that before he purchased she was given a free 5 pack from the manufacturer to try it out.
I have also heard that some insurance companies will cover it, so it may be worth a try. As silly as it may sound, sex is a mental and physical need, so I hope you get a chance to talk to your doctor.
I hate the way some of these drugs mess that stuff up. Then again, when Honey is a teenager I'll have to strongly consider Strattera!! ;D

Douglas, In the January 19,2004 issue of Time Magazine there is extensive information on this subject. It does not involve Strattera but talks about Sex & Health, Sexual Healing, The Chemistry of Desire, Dopamine, oxytocin, tesosterone and the various medications to help with this problem. I did not read it but noticed the article in the Doctors office today and thought it may be something you could check out. It looked like pretty serious stuff.

Hi Douglas,
My husband is diabetic and I hope he won't kill me for telling this, but he suffers from problems because of it. He has been using Viagra for about a year now. His Dr. needed to have him preapproved to get it coered, but I would think that if your Dr. is understanding, that you could do the same. Every time he makes a visit there, she gives him a sample pack or three to bring home, also.
From first hand experience, the stuff (we've tried both kinds) works really really well. My advice would just be to tell your Dr. what is going on and ask for a sample pack or two of both kinds and see what happens. I don't think it could hurt. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't take Strattera, so I'm not positive what your results will be, but my two cents are it's worth trying.

My DH was on Strattera for about two months. The side effects in this regard were disappointing for both of us. Instead of adding a med, the doctor switched him to Ritalin. Things are better on all counts now.
