My hubby started Strattera about tow and a half weeks ago. He's up to 40 mg which I know is not enough since dd12 takes that amount. He is depressed now and wasn't before starting meds. He can't get started and when he finally does, he doesn't finish. He has lab reports that have been due for at least a week, and he messes and piddles around till it's too late to start, so they don't get finished, then he's more depressed because the reports are another day late...
He's been moping around all day, feeling sad but doesn't know why, so I had him take another 40 mg to see if that would help. He's actually in the office finishing his homework! Yay! Will his depression stop once he gets on the correct dosage of Strattera? Or should I call his doctor for him and say he needs the dosage increased now, not on Dec. 9? Any suggestions?

i would definitely call the doctor today! as it's been almost 3 weeks, that's enough time for the trial dose to have been integrated. and he's already seeing results from 80 mg. i'd tell the doc that and also that he's having work issues due to depression, etc. i wonder if too low a dose/depression is a side effect of Strattera? i feel the pain, my dh also has a terrible challenge starting/finishing. the longer the project/work drags on, the less able he is to complete it. just gets stuck in a rut and then gets depressed/angry when not able to finish, but never verbalizes the emotions. hope doc gets him to the right levels! prayers, 1mom

I started on a much higher dosage, and experienced no depression. In fact, the med pretty much ended my depressions.

People have reported that depression comes along with too low a dose of Strattera, I would also bump up to the next level right away. Don't mess around too long at this level.

I couldn't get him to call the doctor today but I did manage to convince him to try 80mg this morning. He wasn't as depressed today ;D
Sorka, I read my hubby your post, and I'll start working on him to call tomorrow before the long weekend.
Thanks for your help, everyone! I'll let you know how it goes.
