We take our son to the doctor next week for his 1st round of meds. Don't know yet what he will start with. Is there a standard 1st time norm or will our pediatrician use what the child psychologist suggests? Any clues?

:)I'm no tmuch help in the meds, specific department, but I know that there are some that have hit it right off the gittyup, while others tweeked and tweeked.
There are alot of options out there. Make sure before you go, like this weekend, right a list of questions you might have for hte doc concerning the meds. Any side effects, how long will the medication take to kick in, how long does it last.
Of course, everyone is different, so it might be a range of time that is an average.
Down in teh medication section, there is alot of useful information. And I actually have learned a bit over the past week :Dso ask away, the members and mods are great at answering questions and concerns
Take care

tinker12, welcome to our forum family we are so glad you are here. we have a wonderful group of members here and you will find them very supportive and caring. it's hard to say what the dr will prescribe. it depends on what your ds's symptoms are. in my experience, dr's usually start out with the lowest dosage of meds that have been know for their success. good luck to you, take care of yourself and keep us posted. we are here for you.

Tinker12, welcome Amsmom is right, as always, that your doc has wide range of med´s to choose, so it´s hard to say what might it be. Every doc have their own favor´s and med´s they have best and worst experience´s. Most propably he´ll put your ds on some low dose and start seeking the functioning dose from there. When you know what´s it gonna be, you might want to check our med-sectio to see if there is any opinion´s about that certain med. I think there will be, we have lot´s of member´s and seem´s to me that together we´ve tried every possible medication

Thanks mom2j again (I posted to you again in getting to know each other) What has your pediatrician said about his slowed speech. Noah has been speaking in full sentences since before he was 2 but my youngest son will be 2 in may and hardly says anything but mommy, daddy, nana, paw paw and a select few other words. Not putting two words together at all but comprehends everything we say so I am no that worried yet

Noah even talks in his sleep! People ask us all the time how we handle his questions but I really think if he talks in his sleep I could answer him in his sleep. OF course to him we probably encourage it because my husband always provide him with an answer, always!! This si funny, on our car ride today I was trying to get him to talk about his feelings and he told me to stop asking questions!!! ;D

We have just gotten Noah sleeping at night without a pullup and it cracks me up to get him at 10:00 at night to go to the bathroom and he talks the whole time with his eyes closed and me holding it for him he is so out of it!!
