I am amazed at the wide variety of answers we have here- Everything from 8 1/2 to 17 years old! I never would have thought that there is such a large window of time in which this can happen.

Some of us were longer go than others but it sure does seem to be getting younger and younger...as for menopause and all...I really wish I had the 1 week out of order a month back...if anyone had told me it would be reversed now I wouldn't have complained so much back then.

i started at 11 too and was so scared until i talked to my mom. amazing all the experiences we've had, eh? paul, your dd is lucky that you want to know more. it will help her immensely having you understand the moods. as long as we're really "out there" with this conversation, who remembers what was available before tampons and pads with stick on liners? i know many of you won't know, but some may!!!!

Those old time straps and belts were a real pain..these girls dont know how easy they have it...I remember when the tampons came out and my mom thought they were sinful.
By the way my mom still uses the belts... silly woman.

mothercat, yes, yes, they were HORRIFFIC!!!!!!!! santitary belts. girls, trust me on this one, you are sooooooo lucky if you do not know what we are talking about. they were positively from the dark ages. the pads didn't have sticky liner to stick them on your underwear. oh nooooooooooooo!!!! the pads were longer so they could fit on this archaic device with sharp hooks to hook the sanitary pad on. you wore the hideous contraption around your hips under your underwear. what a hoot!!!! omg they were nasty!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

belts Must have been invented by Satan's brother! Of course, who ever decided to call them "napkins" was another of Satan's friends!

OKay I have had time to think about this one...ARE girls getting younger or did we get older...remember when girls got married at 14 yrs old and had children every year there after?! (not that long ago ..like 2 generations or so..) It was like totally uncommon for a 16 yr old NOT to be married they were considered spinsters in the old old days. SO were we just the slow bunch or what?

Believe it or not, I was very happy when wifey's 'evil Aunt Flo' finally paid us a visit this month. (She came three days later than expected) 4 kids is aplenty -It is scary to even think of the possibility of another.

Kaiti... smart people learn from their own mistakes.
BUT REALLY SMART PEOPLE LEARN FROM OTHER PEOPLES MISTAKES.
Take it from me, quit while you are ahead.
Paul, you should learn what causes those things and not teach the rest of us any more lessons!
Me... I figured out with three kids born in September, who was coming every Christmas time, and I put a lock on the chimney!
Kaiti, I was never regular until after having my first baby. And I stopped having cramps after that... until very recently!
I guess we really are all very different.
But I thank God that I live in an age where I can chose not to have any more kids! I would have been locked away permanently in an assylum by now if I had to have a baby every other September for 30 years~ Not me... can't make me do it.
