A common characteristic of ADDers is that they can solve the world's problems, but can't organize their own lives. Why do you think that is? I don't know that I have ADD, but I find much of the day-to-day chores boring and seemingly of little value. I spend much of my time doing things that stimulate my mind, but unfortunately often are not as important or should not be as high a priority as taking care of my home and family. Another reason I struggle doing household chores is that I could spend time doing all that work, and by the end of the day much of it would be undone by the rest of the family so what's the use?
I think my brother is a clear example of this. He is a computer programmer, doing government work. He has been cleared for top-security projects, and some of his work involved a satellite that was launched not too long ago. BUT he bought a house in February or March and when we visited him in July he still had not unpacked boxes. In his living room he has an easy chair, a HD tv, and maybe some bookshelves--very little furniture. My parents sent him a check and he never deposited it. I asked for his cell phone number and when he didn't send it I didn't pressure him; but later when the subject came up, he said, "Didn't I give it to you?" That is very typical of him--no followthrough.
Anyway, as I asked, do you think the everyday things are just too mundane for ADDers to focus on?

Oh you are living my everyday Why fix it if it will get broke again Sorta liek the house work stuff. Only with us, since our house is on the market.....we need to keep it tidy....which is a totally impossible thing for me I put Mike's stuff away only for him to come home and ask why it's not where he put it....I put it where it BELONGED......it has a home and Mike just doesn't want to admit it AND to answer your question: There are more important things to do than to dust and sweep to keep people interested in how you live.....so what what others think.....that's nice, that's their life, not mine. Oh Ihope I haven't confused you even more

I don't think it is just a adder's problem....I get tired of doing the same thing over and over just to have to do it over the next day. Plus winter is worse for me....I can't stand to be cooped up in the house for a long period of time....... I try to get out and walk as much as I can...it really relieves stress. I am a very organized person, but I think I am also a bit of a perfectionist....ok A LOT of a perfectionist ...so I think for me is that is where the problem lies!!!!

Linda, bring that perfectionist rear over hear and help me organize the rest of my house ;D Since being put on the market, I have been alot better about what I bring in the house. We are just soooooooooo bad at collecting things. Like sports memorabelia, Norman Rockwell stuff, things like that. I was just trying to clear my mantel to dust it haven't done that for a while And I just grabbed a big container and am putting things into it in hope of either putting it out for a yard sale or donating all the stuff to the thrift shop. I would through it away, except I know it can be used again and I don't want to see it go to waste.

Well... I have been trying to clean my house for 4 hours now.. and i keep getting distracted by good songs on radio.. or .. OMG i wanted to do that today .. and then I check email.. Opps.. daughter is up .. so gotta make food and start laundry .. and I realise that my morning w/o DH < he went hunting for the morning> is over and I didn't relax and enjoy my time.. like i planned...
I have learned a long time ago .. that my home is a home.. not a palace .. with maids.. and people who love to clean .. it is organized well enough to live.. and on rare days when company comes over it gets the special Pledge treatment..
otherwise, I must agree.. I do often think .. why do the petty things when DD and DH just come by and plop there stuff and no regards for .. OMG mom just mopped that floor.. as they run out of the room so I don't catch them ..muahaha

Oh your lucky, they actually think about that stuff. Not mine, if it doesn't directly affect them then forget it. I tried the going on stike thing to see if they would step up with out me reminding them that I wasn't going to do anything. Just made it longer for me to clean up in the end
