Apparently Alla has allergies...

Contrary to what the previous allergist said based on the results of a skin-prick test, I do have allergies. Apparently if you don't test positive for anything on a skin-prick, they're supposed to do sub-dermal testing next. I reacted to the sub-dermal ones.

To what, you ask?

Apparently EVERYTHING. They tested me for trees, molds, thingyroaches, dust, weeds, grass, cats, and dogs.

I didn't react to dogs, oak trees, or house dust. Apparently I'm allergic to everything else.

So, I now have drops that go in my juice or whatever that I'm supposed to take twice a day (and so far I'm doing well at remembering). They already seem to be helping a bit.

Oh, and apparently, you can have a sinus infection that can survive a bout of amoxicillin and 2 bouts of zithromax, so they gave me a script for a different antibiotic. I'm going to get that filled tomorrow, and they also gave me orders for a sinus CAT scan to see if I'm really plugged up for some reason.

As for the rest of the time in Denver...Mom and I survived each other rather well. Shopping for 2 days straight (excepting the time that we spent at the doctor's) makes me tired apparently.

I drove the entire way up to Castle Rock on Tuesday. We spent the night there, then hit the outlet mall on Wednesday before continuing on to Denver. I found new boots! Yay! Did anyone see pictures from the storm that hit Castle Rock on TV? They were holding a PGA tournament there this weekend. About half an hour or so after we left there Wednesday, it hailed enough that it looked like it snowed on the golf course and in a few subdivisions.

We hit Cherry Creek Mall and an awesome book store in Denver that evening.

The next day, my appt. was at 8:00. Talked for about an hour, got poked for about an hour. I'll post a picture of what my back looked like from that later . Mom decided to get tested for food allergies on Friday morning.

After my appt., we went out to Colorado Mills (note: even at the Neiman Marcus clearance center, we still couldn't hardly afford anything), then hit Park Meadows Mall. Foley's Red Apple Sale was starting Friday. Heheheh. Mom and I found enough stuff that it was worth going back Friday morning after her appt. just so we could use the 15% coupon from the paper. Then we drove back to Lubbock. I drove most of the time, Mom drove a bit.

When all is said and done, I made out like a bandit from the shopping excursions. I have boots, jeans, slacks, skirts, tops, 2 suits, and bras that fit correctly (yay!) now. Apparently we need to inventory what I have before we go shopping again...neither of us could remember what colors I already have in slacks.

Well, I'm off to bed. Haven't gotten to really rest yet from the trip. G'night.

I'm glad the trip was good.

I am dealing with this with Honey right now as far as allergies, sinus infections and such. I thought this garbage was supposed to slow down once he had his tonsils and adenoids out? What do I know I guess??

Alla, glad your getting things figured out. My husband is about dead on his feet at work today, he has terrible seasonal allergies, and when ever we get a new weather frton that comes in, BAM, he sounds like he just woke up all day long.

And make sure about your sinuses and your dental work. Mike went a few years back to have a tooth pulled, and now he has a hole in his sinuses somewhere that will be cost $1300+, and that's with insurance. The one dentist called the one that performed the surgery because he never warned my husband that the root of his tooth had grown around the sinuses and that could possibly happen >:(he got a professional reaming, not just a patient one

Glad you had fun shopping, I am dreading taking Tara and Mikey

I've never had teeth pulled ('cept wisdom teeth and they were both on the bottom).

Towards the end of the second day, I was so tired I'd go sit down and Mom would call my cell phone when she needed me to come try things on.

Ok, people, I am nearly crying with laughter here. I can be so ignorant sometimes. I could not figure out what was replaced by "thingy" at the front of "roaches." So here I am in my mind thinking about all the spam e-mails we get, trying to think of words they use: w i l l y roaches--no; oh, duh, c o c k. I hope this doesn't offend anyone; I just thought it was so funny I had to share it.

Anyway, my DS is going to be tested for food and nasal allergies next week. Don't a lot of ADDers have allergies?

Gee, I feel like I've had that experience. Yep, I know full well that a sinus infection can last through 2 rounds of antibiotics. Then they send you in for a CAT Scan and then they prescribe antibiotics that cost about $400 and make you feel like you swallowed pure acid within 15 minutes of taking them. And they only ask you to take these twice a day for about 3 weeks or so.

I didn't like that experience too well so I went through 5 years of allergy shots after than and haven't had a sinus infection since. Believe me, getting two shots, once a week for 5 years is better than the killer antibiotics. Okay really they cut it back to twice a week and then eventually once a month. I was also allergic to practically everything except dogs.

They make you put drops in orange juice? I've found a combination of Claritin and Flonase also helps as the shots were never 100% effective but did reduce the severity of my allergies to tolerable.

You guys already know I'm a stickler when it comes to meds, so I don't even bother to go get antibiotics, I just let it work through my system. That's why I usually don't get too sick. But today I wake up and can't breathe through my nose, ears are clogged, can't taste my dang coffee, AND to top it all off, I can taste the iron content int he water

Gee, plus I have to go help w/VBS, do I really want to? No, but I have to

I told him to let me sleep in today, usually I get up to get things done before the kids get up. Yippee, I slept til 6:15 I couldn't sleep in if I wanted too

I never even noticed that.

I think that ADDers do have a lot of allergies - whether it's more than everybody else, I don't know.

The antibiotic they have me going on is Levaquin. Never been on it, never heard of it, need to go see if it's going to cost me an arm and a leg to get filled.

And MomX2 - yup, drops in my OJ. They have some kind of patented thingy where it actually manages to survive the parts of your digestive tract that it needs to. I hate hate hate nasal sprays. They always end up drying out my nose even more.
