Hi All,
Well, the MD decided to go with stimulant medication, and prescribed adderall (there was a choice between ritalin and adderall, and I asked which one was more like coffee). I have been on 10mg reg release x2 per day, and notice an increase of my ability to stay seated at work. I am a little nervous that the medication will be apparent to those I work with (like change my personality, etc) but that hasn't been a problem so far. It does take a little adjustment to the mindstate tho I think. I am not sure if this is the dose that is right yet- there are still times when I am spacing out, but not as frequent.
On another note I took the GRE and did ok- stayed fairly focused (although the reading comprehension stuff is still difficult).
Any other adults want to share their results with adderall?
Thanks everyone for the support, Brano

Brando, I also take Adderall, but not extended release. I have taken XR, but it is actually just a left-over from Honey that I use when I run out on a weekend or something. My doc wrote me a persc for it, but I am too cheap to fill it when I have some sitting right here.
I really like Adderall. It seems to work well for me and not too many people noticed a change in me. My DH and my MIL did, but with everyone else I was pretty good at hiding any signs I may have had. (or at least I think I was) My DH sees that I stay on track and get more accomplished. As a result my self-esteem has increased and I am more confident b/c I feel like I CAN do things.

Thanks for the info Marja and Becky.
Becky, what dose do you take of Adderall? Do you take the brand name or generic. I take generic. So far at 10mg 2x day I feel some minor improvement, mainly in the morning (I can sit at my desk a bit longer) but overall the effect is quite mild. So I am wondering if the dose is right.
Thanks, Brando

Brando, I take 20 mgs of reg adderall in the morning only. I have a perscription for afternoons also, but I am not going to be back in school until September so I don't need it to last through a whole workday. By 1 or 2 in the afternoon I am done with what I have to get done so if I sluff-off for the rest of the day it's OK.
I take the name brand stuff right now, but I have taken both and don't notice a difference.
When you take the morning dose is it on an empty stomach? If so, that may be why you are feeling it more. That is they way I am. I HAVE to eat with it or I get sick to my stomach and then I can't eat.

Hi Becky,
Yes I do take one 10mg in the morning on an empty stomach and it works OK- by the afternoon when I take the second one the effect is not that noticable. I am thinking perhaps the dose is too low- I will see my MD in 2 weeks so I can talk to him about it I guess. Were you started at 20mg in the morning, or did you start out taking less?
And Marja, the GRE is a graduate exam for grad school- basically like the SAT but harder!
Thanks a lot, Brando

Brando, I did start out on 10 mgs also, but was bumped up to 20 mgs after about 3 weeks b/c 10 mgs was not working well enough.
