When I go to bed, I see re-runs of my entire day, the last week, and sometimes weeks or months of events. If I am lucky I can finally sleep within 2 hours of getting under the covers. DH snores with 5 minutes of getting into bed and it irks me. Just wondering how the rest of the world sleeps.

I usually fall asleep the minute my head hits the pillow. If something is bothering me, I still fall right to sleep, then I wake up at about 3:00am and toss and turn for a few hours. When nothing is bothering me, I can sleep for 9 hours (if I don't have to get up for work) and feel great!

I have fallen asleep at stock car races for 200 laps and woke up to see the end. I've slept through the volume turned to 9 on the stereo, but I attribute that to blocking it out. HHHHHMMMMMMMM now, where do the kids get it from,
I can fall asleep when I really feel like it. Any where, vehicle, hard ground. someoneelses couch or chair.

I voted for at least half an hour. I lay awake thinking about the things that happened that day and what will happen the next day. If there is something big going on the next day it takes a little longer.

I have to take Benedryl pretty much everynight to fall asleep. If I start to get tired around 8:00 and stay up, which I usually do b/c they kids still are up, I get my second wind and cannot fall asleep for the life of me. But, if I close my eyes the second I start to feel tired I can sleep anywhere. One time I fell asleep on a wrestling mat for 3 hours in a gym, with a full tournement going on, whistles, buzzers, then whole sha-bang!! I can't sleep all night long either. I wake up more often than my kids do. How silly, an adult that never learned to sleep through the night!!

I voted for half an hour, but that's not counting Hubby's snoring and the number of times I have to kick him and then send him to the living room so I can fall asleep.

I can fall immediately asleep anytime, anywhere. I could sleep for days at a time, I think. EXCEPT when I'm overly tired. For some reason, then I have a real hard time falling asleep. Baths really relax me, so when I get the clue that I'm not falling asleep anytime soon, I'll admit defeat and then get up and take a long, hot bath. After I get out of the tub, I'll sit and read a few minutes until I start getting sleepy, usually 30 minutes or so, then I'll fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow!

Honeysmom, I'm with you. I fall asleep easily, but I awaken many, many times through the night. I've been doing that for years. I finally went to a doctor to ask what is wrong with me...they call it S*T*R*E*S*S!! It's stress that causes you to awaken over and over and over. It's a miserable feeling. I've been taking Elavil to help me sleep, but it honestly doesn't work very well. The doctor said I could take more than one table if it's not doing well, but I'm afraid of taking more meds. Too many responsibilities, if you know what I mean.

I generally fall asleep pretty quickly ... I voted for 15 minutes but that is only because I included the few pages of reading I tend to do first! ... I ususally wake up ONCE in the night in a desperate need to go to the bathroom ... but then back to sleep pretty quickly again...
When I am going to sleep I tend to make myself think of something totally "neutral" (in other words nothing that I find upsetting etc) ... If worries etc. start to come in I push them aside and tell myself "I can do NOTHING about that tonight .... so let me think of something else... " and it does seem to work...
