 Well, we got moved in and survived selling the house and keeping it surgical-suite clean at all times. The people bought the house and seem like nice people but the agent was an extortionist, gonna take some things up with the board of realtors about her antics.... Moved in and the water heater blew up, followed by a host of other " Discoveries" as to the house's real condition. My dad will be moving in with us permanently and we will be building an addition onto the house for him. I love the new house and everything, great waking up with no stress of the tightly packed neighborhood and who can hear child A, B, C, or D throwing a temper tantrum........10 acres is a good buffer for my youngest child who screams to get attention. The counselor got in trouble with everyone because this child hits frequencies they were hearing in other offices.....it's bad. Well, I now have two official bi-polar bears and three ADHD and the baby is definitely ADHD and possibly mood disorder too...he tends to go on non-sleeping jags where he is heck-on-wheels!! I am now dx'd as 314.00 and appropriately medded up and things are going smoothly. Normally the most frightening thing for a mother of bi-polar people is to throw change into their lives.....but thankfully the new school district is sooo wonderful. Things I had to fight the other district to give my kids, this place gives them and all kids!! My oldest is NO LONGER SPECIAL ED!! For the first time since 2nd grade he is in a mainstream classroom. The previous district didn't want him to be mainstreamed here and were all about trying to sabotage him here with inaccurate information and all sorts of charming moves. I believe I may be writing a letter to the local paper and let them do some research into the abuses of power and control that the previous district employs. Special ed kids have to wear uniforms, the principal leaves bruises and CPS was pressuring me because they are receiving pressure to close the case on the principal. I was in the hospital right after giving birth being told that if I could get pix to CPS in the next day or two they could investigate, if not they were closing it. I told her that the guy used submission holds on the kids and almost caused restraint asphyxia but she didn't want to hear it. Things like this that I think the state board would like to deal with so that no other parent willhave to go through what we went through. I am so thankful for the fresh start and I have kids who are happy to go to school now!! This is huge after all I have had to go through!! Even with this huge change the kids have done beautifully and adjusted quickly. The baby is going to be a terror however......>sigh<. Mom's Island, here I come!!! LOL!! I want to bring my little German Shepherd too.....she's soft!! lol  The soap box is dusted off for the next occupant! G'night!

Things are finally looking up for you and your family....GOOD..about time! I got chills when I read the special-ed kids had to wear uniforms...EXCUSE ME but this is 2004!!!  I too would per sue the alful things you have described! Good Luck  |

I want to come to your new school district! It sounds GREAT~ and we might as well be in the same old district with the wicked people here...
Shaun is holding his breath for the special ed. department in the virtual charter school to decide course placement for him and he is SOOOOOO home!
I am excited for you with 10 acres... what a wonderful childhood you are creating for your bears. We had 2 acres in a past lifetime... 7 yrs ago... and there was no end to discovery for the kids. We were on the edge of the wildlife preserve right on the Appalachian trail, and we saw such neat nature stuff... a deer give birth in our yard, hawks soarig overhead... I miss it beyond words.
Glad to hear all is well with the move, and that your cubs are adjusting well!

I am only a couple of hours south of you, Tridlette....I am in northern VA so I have the same views ;-)
We have lots of deer and 7.5 of those acres are old forest and untouched!! The kids <totally urban critters> had to get used to the fact that nature is cool and they should live more of their lives outside than inside!! I don't hear "there's nothing to do" nearly as much either! We are joining the rec center in the area and they have an indoor pool <!!!> and all sorts of classes and things!
The 10 <soon to be 11> year old has dropped the awful victim/drama king act and developed a social life and has dropped all the maladaptive behaviors
11 Praise God! I didn't think he was gonna make it to the next age at the rate he was going with the "everyone is against me, no one could POSSIBLY love me....>SIGH<" manipulative games. We gave him a PS2 and he was upset and dramatic because he wanted the Xbox........that type of spoiled behavior.....
Since we have moved here I have removed video games from their worlds <no more fighting and pressure from oldest to youngest for more time, etc.....> and gave it to my husband to hook up to our TV....lol!
Things are great and at some point I will take some pix around here and post them to shutterfly so y'all can see the area. We live on a mountain side and have golden eagles and deer, coyotes, owls and no developments or subdivisions!!
I could go on for hours about the huge quality of life difference this has been! I am even decorating for Christmas for the first time in my adult life!! WooHoo!

Oh GSDMommy this move sounds like SUCH A POSITIVE move for you and your family!! ... But like Linda I am shocked by the previous "regime" that you and your kids had to battle against and the "WEARING UNIFORMS" if you are speical ed!! ... OMG!! ... That is just archaic and barbaric! ... Thank goodness you are out of that now !! ... but heaven help those who are still "in" it!!  Congratulations to you and your family though on making this really GOOD SOUNDING fresh start!! |
