I've been reading up on all the alternative treatments and am ready to order the omega 3 and magnesium stuff. I got the flaxseed yesterday for me and see all the omega stuff in it. Why does it say that it's not meant for anyone under 18 years old? What would it do to my kid if I give him some before I get the fish based omega 3?

I dont know anything about the flaxseed, but I see you are looking into omega 3... I would highly suggest the coromega (3 packets a day), simply because it taste really good... I found it in a vitamin store... Good luck

Thanks SKay...interesting. I gave him some yesterday and today. Think I'll put that on hold till my fish based omega 3 arrives. Reading that makes me wonder if I should be using it.

I read it's about the size of a large pea - so my kiddo ought to be able to swallow it. The price was right too - 54 dollars for a 3 month supply - if I figured the dose right. www.iherb.com/learningfactor.htmlNow to find some magnesium...

Flaxseed oil is not a good choice for a child with ADHD. Clinical studies indicate that our kids may have difficulty metabolizing the short-chain fatty acids contained in flaxseed oil into the long-chain fatty acids which are required by the brain. You are much better of with fish oil, which already contains the long-chain fatty acids in their immediately usable form -- EPA and DHA. You could use the flaxseed oil without ill effect, but you might not do any good either. I'd wait for the fish oil.
The product we use, and which I highly recommend for its qualtiy, purity, and lack of additives which might adversely effect behavior, is the Natural Factors Rx-Omega-3.
