My daughter was tested for and confirmed to have heavy metal poisoning. After treatment she is a typical child and medication free (had been diagnosed ADHD and was taking Strattera). Persistence paid off on following the hunch that thing still weren't right.

My best friend's son was diagnosed ADHD and she was being urged to medicate him. Instead, she insisted on a thorough physical work-up. Turns out he was severely anemic. Once the anemia was treated and resolved, the ADHD symptoms disappeared! It happens. Mishamom, was it lead toxicity?

No hers was tin, aluminum (being linked to Alzheimers as well) and mercury. We were able to determine it was not environmental toxicity which means nothing around her was exposing her to dangerous levels. Further testing determined that her body only produces 25%of the metathyaline required for her body mass. This is the substance the body produces when it detects excessive minerals. This susbtance find and binds to the metals and then the body urinates or sweats them out. This workd much like your body producing white blood cells to fight infection - if your immune system can't produce adequate white cells then you have trouble fighting off or getting rid of infection. We used a natural chealation treatment, an oral spray called PCA-RX (which is also very effective and commonly used by heart patients to clear plaque out of the system) and we supplement her with really a really good vitamin and mineral regiment to help her body more effectively produce what it needs. We'll soon be doing follow up testing to see if our efforts have boosted her own ability to create metathyline (sp?). If it's improved great and if not then this will likely be a lifelong treatment plan but considering what we've went through - no problem I think it just really goes to show that our kids just can't be lumped into vague categories and treated all alike. They're all so unique. It's also so very important to have a good physician and take the time and effort for good physical, history and blood work. Did you know that thyroid disorders cause the same symptoms as ADHD and autism? Rarely does a doctor look behind the behavior to prove that there is or is not a medical condition contributing. Parents have to be tenacious and thorough.
