Hi anyone use or know where to find a Mag/cal sup. that is 300mg of mag chelated? Trying to stay away from the oxide ing. Source nat's has a 100 mg mag/cal capsule but its not all chelated. Does it matter? SHes on just the mag 100 mg now but I want to put the calcium with it. Shes 47 lbs. so just under 300 mg/per day would be good amount. Thanks for any suggestions and any suggestions on the vit e that is important when taking the magnesium. Or is it ? THanks again. Lisa

Lisa, Vitamin E is important to take with fish oil. I'm personally not a fan of cal/mag combos. Calcium and magnesium compete for absorption through the same channels and since calcium is somewhat smaller, it generally wins. That means that when you take calcium and magnesium together, you are not getting the maximum benefits of the magnesium. I prefer to give the calcium separately from the magnesium, at least one hour apart.
There are some cal/mag supplements that claim to contain a buffered form of calcium that will not interfere with calcium absorption, but I haven't done any research on them to see how effective the buffering is.
The Source Naturals magnesium chelate is probably a good choice if you want to give the two together since the calcium is relatively low.

Cat, if my dd is getting calcium in her diet do I need a supplement also? Also, how much vit E to go with the omega's? I was also thinking of tyrosine, as I read it is a good match iwithe the adderall she is on. But, then again I don't want her to be popping pills all day long. lol.. so Id like to keep it to a minimum, and to what it really working for her. THanks for you imput. Lisa

Sarahsmom, I don't think additional calcium is necessary unless you're non-dairy or your daughter eats very little from the dairy product category. It's not that hard to get calcium from your diet, and the calcium you get that way is used more effectively by your body.
For Vitamin E, I give my son a 100IU capsule each morning. Anything lower than that isn't enough. Many experts feel this is an adequate amount to supplement with along with your Omegas. Other experts, however, believe you ought to provide 200IU per day. So depending on what you can find easily, you can use either amount.
I'll get back to you on tyrosine...need to get moving NOW!
