Hi my 6 year old has been having an ongoing sleeping problem. Starting last January when we started Strattera, that did not work but she is now on adderall 10mg's. and I am giving her magnesium , omega, and vit's supplements. SHe also takes clonidine for tics that she had gotten, she is still having a voice clearing tic. But the sleeping isn't good she insists on the light on , I had 3 night lights in her room but just the light is enough. How much sleep does a 6 year old need? We tried meletonian Sp? it helped her get to sleep but not a deep sleep, and she was up early with it. She gets to sleep but not a deep sleep, as soon as we turn off the lights she gets up and turns them on. Sorry to go on, but wandered if anyone had any suggestions . THanks LIsa

Hi Lisa, can I ask why she wants the light on to begin with? Is she afraid of the dark?
Mikey used to turn on the light in the bathroom where it was just light enough to see from his room, but still dark in his room so that he could sleep. He's like me when it comes to sleeping, so as soon as I open my eyes in the morning, if it is light out, I'm up.
Anyhow, I think that it is recommended for 8-10 hrs a night, but it varies with children. My daughter can easily sleep 9-10, but Mikey is go-go-go, so he usually get 7-8.
