Has anyone used any herbal remedies succesfully to treat anxiety? At some point I would like to take my son off anti-depressants but I know he will need something because his anxiety can get unbearable. I have been reading good things about st. Johns wort. Is it safe and effective any insight would be helpful

I've been taking St. Johns wort when I remember to But that isn't consistant enough for ya, I think there are a few others that are taking it, they could help you better.

St. John's Wort is an effective anti-depressant with a solid body of clinical evidence to support its use. It's also generally very safe. On thing to watch out for...make sure you've stopped prescription anti-depressants before beginning St. John's Wort because using the two together can cause serious adverse effects (although it's not common, it's not worth the risk). There's a very good rundown on St. John's Wort, how to use it, what it's good for, what to look out for... www.wholehealthmd.com/refshelf/substances_view/1,1525,824,00.html
