My 16 year old son was diagnosed this summer as ADD. He is the inattentive ADD. I knew all along but was really hard to convince hubby until our son failed the 9th grade. We had him tested by a psychologist. He started Adderrall XR about a month ago and is taking 20mg. He complains of some stomach pains but not to bad. He does not eat lunch. I have started giving him a daily vitamin that has 30 IU of Vitamin E and 40mg of Magnesium. I bought just this weekend at Wal Mart a vitamin called Natural Fish Oil. It has 240mg of EPA and 200mg of DHA. Is this enough? The Natural Fish Oil vitamins are huge but they are the softgels. Is there a better one out there that I should buy? Will these types of vitamins help him since he is the inattentive type, he is not at all hyper? Thank you in advance.

Laura, Hello and welcome. I'm sorry that I somehow missed your post before and so did not respond to this question. Please look at the two topics "Where do I start" and "New to this" for some basics on what to use. 40mg of Magnesium and 30 IU of vitamin E won't do much good. You will need a higher amount. Also that omega 3 fish oil is also too low a dose. Wallmart brand is not the best. You will want an oil that is pharmaceutical grade for purity. Nordic Naturals is the best but expensive. Also, RxOmega 3 factors by Natural Factors is an excellent choice and less expensive than the Nordic Naturals. This is available online through www.iherb.com for $13 - $15 a bottle (120 soft gels). I hope this helps. Please forgive us for not responding to you sooner. You are welcome here and I know we all want you to find something that will help.

ohmama, thank you so much for answering my questions. I am going to go to the website you suggested. As long as it will help my son, I am not concerned about the cost of the vitamins. Thank you so much again.
