For catatonic or anyone interested,
We tried the p.m. compounded vitamin since it seemed the least objectionable, and....reaction. It takes about 5 days to really see a change, then even when you stop it takes several more for the effects to wear off. I know it's not the zinc or vit e, cause I am giving them to him now with no problems. I don't think it's the C; I know your child reacts to it cat, but since we don't have corn syrup issues, I don't think it should be a problem??? I'm guessing it's the biotin. He has 400 mcg in the p.m. vitamin, and the same amount in the a.m.
Anyone read anything or have any ideas if others have shown reactions to biotin?

Do you have a complete list of what's in it?
Also, have you ever had any indication that your son is sulfite sensitive? Inherent in its molecular structure, biotin is a very powerful source of sulfur and it can even cause classic allergic reactions (that is, immune-system mediated). Anyone who can't tolerate sulfites should avoid biotin supplements.
It's also possible that it's not the biotin per se but something that adulterated it during manufacturing. (For example, sodium benzoate may have been used as a preservative in it.)
So you're probably right that it's the biotin. (Unless your Vitamin C is Ester-C, which tends to provoke symptoms in allergic individuals, separate from the whole corn issue.) I'd think you're right to rule out the zinc and Vitamin E also. There's just not really anything in them to react to.
