sorry for the delay in getting back to you about my son's diagnosis from Pfeiffer. At this point, it's a Zinc problem. His copper is not high, but we are going to be retested in about another 3 months to see if the vitamins are correct.
how are you doing with the Pfeiffer vitamins?

So zinc was your only issue? Are you just on a zinc supplement then? Noticing any changes?
We just went back last week for a recheck. We have been on the vitamins a little over 4 months now. Before we went, they sent us a kit to test for yeast metabolites in his urine. The results of that showed improvement. On the first test it was 168; it's now down to 69 (47 is the high end of normal.) So our yeast issue is better, but not fixed. We are not doing any more rounds of diflucan, but instead are now on nystatin and still doing the probiotics.
When we went they repeated the other tests that showed problems last time, but it will be a few weeks before we get the results. So we are kind of at a status quo place till we hear.
We still have the ups and downs (guess that is a hallmark of ADHD though.) But the trend is definitely one of decreased anger. He still gets irritated and frustrated but it does not scale to the heights it has previously. And even when he says he is angry, there is not that irrational fire in his eyes, so that's a welcome change.
We had an academic burst this spring too, which it's difficult to say with certainly related to the treatment, but for whatever reason we are grateful for it. There was also a growth spurt, which has leveled out now. He has grown 1.5 inches since we started (an inch in the first month) when his growth had dramatically slowed before.
We cannot use the TMG, so couldn't do the entire protocol, but stuck with it otherwise. I'm anxious to hear what the blood and other tests reveal to see where his zinc and copper are now. Treatment will be adjusted based on the results.
When you read the info on low zinc, did it sound like your child? I remember you were'nt sold on Pfeiffer after your appt, so am curious what your thoughts are now. Hope you are finding something that helps.

sounds like you are making progress.
you asked me about the low zinc question. actually my DS tested just below normal for zinc and just above the copper high limits. they discussed it with me. did they sell me on the results. no. but, we will stick with the vitamins they suggest and see.
we've been on their vitamins for about 2.5 weeks. we haven't seen any significant changes in my DS. but, he is also not being put to the test either. it's summer time and no school. my hope is that by the time we start home schooling again this year, that the vitamins will have started to take effect and we'll have a better student and better behavior.
remember we have been doing vitamins, since this past Feb. 04. they added more zinc and a few other things that they compounded for us. other than that, we haven't changed a thing. so, i hope the additions they asked us to use will take effect in the next month or so. only time will tell.
best of luck to you and your son. let me know how your test results from Pfeiffer's retest are. i'm very, very interested. thanks!
